Could we sign 15 players on 39k. Equally unsustainable. I am really unclear as to what level of say they have...or are they just bending the rules.

I would have Jones and Hughes as our first choice, but, if someone is willing to pay £3m for Jones then he’s gone IMO. He's a good solid player but that’s a really good price for him.

We are flush with good centre back options.

He was very cheap if he wasn’t. Think it may have be u21 compo at worst

 

According to Baz yesterday it's simple wage demands for an ex pl and la liga player. He's a free transfer so what fee would we be making up for? And if we were, how could they prove it?

And I meant by what mechanism are the EFL refusing to sanction it, not what mechanism the club use to sign a player.

I'm wondering whether now they've got us under the microscope there are more general affordability concerns. Time will tell I guess.

Personally, I would rather start with Hughes and Egan, with Jones and Semi-On as the cover.

Think that was the publicised theoretical total of all potential add ons. It certainly wasn't 1m guaranteed though. We just weren't spending those sums back then, not on centre backs anyway.

 

Doubt it, they have been paying £750k a year for the last 2 seasons, although it took them 12 months to pay their first season's bill.

 

Agreed - there was literally zero chance of the Allam family sanctioning a 1 million fee for a player back then, particularly in League 1 and furthermore a player on an initial one year deal.

Pretty sure if was rumoured to be up to 100k, or there abouts.

 

Selling players happens, yet as usual the same suspects seem to be wildly speculating off the back of a routine occurrence in the world of football. Definitely need clarity soon.
