After 20 games we have 47 points - this gives an average of 2.35 points per game. If we continue at the same rate we will end up with 108 points. If we average 2 points per game for rest of season we will end up with 99 points. If we average 1.5 points per game for rest of seaon we will end up with 86 points. Last season Brighton came top with 95 losing 7 games on the way Southampton came 2nd with 92 losing 10 games on the way. Udd came third with 87 points losing 9 games How many points do you think we will end up with? And how many points do you think we will need to get into top 2 ? And how many games will we lose? I think 101 points with over 100 goals too. 90 points will get us into top 2 5 losses
I think we will get 48 more points, certainly enough for automatic promotion and enough to top the division unless one of our rivals produces fantastic form from now on. And Preston will be relegated by the time we play them. When did risdale turning up make things better?
I continue to think that we will have a rocky spell at some point. Mainly due to the inevitability of injuries or suspensions and partly because its just normal to have a rocky spell so we would be breaking the mould if we didn't! Or maybe I'm just a pessimist! On that basis I think we will end up with 95 to 100 points finishing 1st or second. If we don't have a rocky spell than anything is possible - we could win it by 15 points. But unlikely.
I think we will finish on 82 points and in the play offs.It worries me that MK Dons and Sheff Wed form is so good.We haven't had a bad spell yet and we are due one.Sorry to be all doom and gloom but i have been a Charlton supporter for 50 years and it comes with the territory.
Had a re-look at the fixtures with Eddies fixtures and think we will get 55 more points giving us a total of 102 There tends to be a concerted effort at the end of the season if required, as teams in mid-table only give 95 pre cent, so therefore i think we will have a good run -in, needing a win on last day to get through the 100 points landmark Also revised that we will only lose 3 more games this season... to be honest, i dont care how many points we get. as long as only one other team get more than us. i dont think my heart could hold out in another playoff! although the number 93 is standing out... that should be enough. good chance next weekend to pull further clear what with huddersfield playing wednesday. who's your money on for that one?
Wow Dicky, you are predicting that we will only get 35 more points from 26 games ! That is quite some downfall ! So, you are predicting we will lose more games than we will win in the 2nd half of the season - that would be one hell of a downturn ! - even i , as a morbid Addick dont think we are that bad this season ! Even so, what that does show, is that even if we have a dreadful run, we are more than likely to get a playoff place - but i'm not going there !
Only negative thouight from that is that MKD have overtaken 'Udd anyway - so you could have a situation of no change, with us, Sheff Wed and MKD winning.
Looking at that fixture list, we have a run of seemingly easy home games to finish the season, hopefully most of them should either be relegated or in mid table mediocrity by then... Of course we could get a terrible series of injuries, but our squad is as deep as anyone's in this league. It's impressive that on current form we're heading for a points total higher than Brighton's last season, 100 points would clinch the title, with the competition around us, 90 might not be enough for automatic..
i have a horible feeling one of our key players could get an injury ie bwp or jackson or even solly ,we need cover for these positions quickly come jan we havent had our bad run yet we normally start that around feb march time but im hoping we make it ok but im a bit concerned with lack of back up
to be fair i worked this points totall out during the summer before our good form so far so good shhhhhhhhh
DOnt know about you lot, but the more i look at it, the better it gets. Cant see any real major 'trip-up' games aside from the Udd and Owls away games - so gone for 0 return on those - although i fel that we will def not lose both in reality - plus also given 1 loss which is bound to hapen to a lesser team. However, in all reality, there is bound to be a home game where we trip up.
I won't say Dicky's predicted slump is impossible, stranger things have happened in football (some of them to Charlton), but it is certainly at the pessimistic extreme of possible scenarios. But what baffles me is that this is the guy who recently predicted we would be making "two marquee signings" in January. If that is the result they will achieve then I cannot say I am going to be too impressed with them. Or was he talking about erecting a refreshments tent at Sparrows Lane?
