    Morning all

I was looking at the seemingly small amount we’ve spent so far on transfers and how slowly we’re progressing in key areas, out attacking midfield replacement for Aaronson, a main striker and keeper.

This lead me to a cheeky smile wondering why Doc hasn’t returned as I’m sure he’d have plenty to say, I then thought let’s have a weekend debate thread, if feels weird adding to a Friday debate on Saturday!!

So I keep reading about a £150m budget but I’m starting to wonder if our pot is even half that, why are we not snapping up a new keeper.

If we bring him into the PL his value will increase anyway and if he saves us points, great, it’s the position I don’t understand us not moving on quicker

We surely have a shortlist for all positions so why have we not moved on down that list if there is serious doubt on any

Why has nobody left, are we being unfair on underwood or is he out of his depth

Finally plans for the weekend, I’ll probably be taking the grandson to race a remote control car then visiting a gun shop as I’ve taken up a hobby joining a rifle club (air rifle target shooting)

Eating a shed load of bananas and tomatoes under doctors orders as my blood test came back low on potassium so I need to have it done again on Tuesday

    I hate getting older

I suspect it’s pretty understandable on the keeper front.

Until Mes decides what he wants, stay or go, there’s no room to manoeuvre. He’ll still be on Prem wages, as if I remember correctly (Aski ?), he’ll be on the same pre relegation contract.

Or, our targets are not being released yet by their parent clubs.

Just because we haven’t 3 or 4 marquee players in doesn’t mean there’s nothing doing. A good percentage of players have been away on their jollies or still playing club football.

Im not panicking yet but Leeds need to take heed of the current market. You're not gonna get the likes of Sadiki and Longstaff for £8 million quid. It's like somebody coming to us and offering £7 million for Dan James. Just not going to happen.

If we continue to low ball then players will be snapped up by other clubs and we'll be left panicking at the end of the window buying overpriced players that nobody else wanted and with no pre season.

Its a fine line but Leeds are clearly trying to operate below that line and it's not paying off.....yet.

Morning all. When I saw the weekend debate I thought doc was back. Hate to pee on your parade ristac but the figure I’ve continually seen is 65m for transfers plus whatever we get on sales due to psr. That seems a far more accurate budget and indicates the difficulties ahead. Plans for day just finished under 10 hurling blitz watching the Brandon and his team mates. Great stuff

Livakovic is the latest keeper to be linked. At Fenerbahce under Mourinho. Mourinho might want a swap with Meslier.

That's another alarm bell ringing right there. Looks like a lazy link but I'll be fuming if Meslier starts against Everton.

Wouldn’t it be Darlow starting even if Mes is still here.

    Afternoon all <ok>

Absolutely loving this weather so with all due respect I'm putting our lack of transfers to the back of my mind for the weekend.

I'm hopeful we are shopping in the bargain basement saving money for a few special signings, but its the hope that kills you!

Enjoy the sun and stay hydrated (especially you shaks) <cheers>

very conflicting in what we have to spend but I hope we keep it under wraps as once teams know what we have the amounts wanted will increase knowing what we have left.
We also have a shed load to let go off but it seems and looks like we are trying to bring people in before we let any go.
Also means there will be another few million added to the kitty.
We play scum next Saturday hoping we have 3 or 4 in before that as we need to start bedding these new players in sooner rather than later.

Must admit I haven’t looked into how psr works but why are Sunderland able to splash the cash and we can’t?

    Or can we <confused> <laugh>

I just don’t get it and I can’t be bothered to spend any time trying to fathom it out :emoticon-0176-smoke

Both ourselves and Sunderland have 2 years in the Championship together with the forthcoming season in the EPL, so PSR losses for both teams will be set at £61m.

Whilst last seasons audited accounts aren't available, Sunderland's total losses for their previous 2 seasons (2023 & 2024) was £9m each season, so it's probably a safe presumption, that their losses were similar last season, maybe even better as they received more in transfer money than they spent. So they are approx £40m under the PSR limit. Given the £100m approx from the EPL, the £40m from players sold already, then they have a budget of around £180m for purchases and salaries, of which they have spent approx £110m on new players so far.

Our first season in the Championship , we lost £60m. Last season we probably would have lost a similar amount, if not for player sales of approx £150m. We also had to pay approx £80m in respect of installments on previous purchases. So that would leave us with combined loss of £50m towards PSR, so £11m under our limit for this season. We also get the same £100m from the EPL, and have player sales of approx £5m. So our budget for transfers and salaries is approx £116m, so just over £60m less than Sunderland of which we've spent approx £30m on new players.

That's the simplistic view, obviously things like the Red Bull sponsorship etc will narrow the gap, plus we don't know what last seasons financials are going to be like. I've not taken into account promotion bonuses, which are likely to be shown in this seasons accounts. Whilst I consider that Sunderland's promotion bonus is going to be less than ours, I've just taken the simplistic view that they balance out.

Obviously PSR is worked out on a figure that is less than the losses shown in the audited accounts, but audited account losses are at least somewhere to start. So I would say as a calculated guess our budget due to PSR is somewhere between £30m - £60m less than Sunderlands

Maybe we are looking at high level signings who know they may get better offers?

Been chainsawing this morning cutting down a couple of trees that are poisonous to Jan’s horses. Not as mad as it first seems, that is a free pass to drink as much lager as I want later and she’ll do the barbecue :emoticon-0140-rofl:

No problem Essex, I don't blame you for not wanting to look into it deeper, trying to interpret football accounts is a nightmare.

If Sunderland have more of a budget, then I'll just balance things out a touch by saying their squad and performances last season were massively inferior to ours so they have a little bit of catching up to do to attain our level for last season.

So far, they appear to have done decent business and look like they are giving it a hell of a go. I don't mind Sunderland and so long as it's not at our expense I'd be happy for them to stay up.
