Good Morning. It's Friday 11th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Longstaff deal back on?

Unconfirmed reports suggest the Sean Longstaff transfer saga may not be dead and buried! The 27-year-old midfielder has been a target for Daniel Farke throughout the summer, but repeated attempts to secure his services from Newcastle United have been met with obstacles.

The sticking point has consistently been the valuation, with Newcastle holding out for £15 million. Leeds latest offer (said to be their third and final) at £10 million plus an additional £2 million in add-ons was knocked back earlier this week, prompting speculation that the deal had collapsed.

However, fresh speculation indicates that Leeds United are now exploring a restructured deal. The new proposal reportedly involves spreading the payment of Newcastle's demanded fee over three years. This strategic shift could hint at a broader plan from the Whites, potentially freeing up immediate funds to line up several other significant signings as Daniel Farke looks to bolster his squad.

Longstaff himself brings a valuable blend of stability and experience to the midfield. Crucially, it's understood that the player does not expect to be an automatic starter, making him an ideal acquisition for Farke. His presence would add vital depth, competition, and a reliable option off the bench.

Leeds have tactical advantage over Sunderland over Mikautadze

Leeds could take advantage of Sunderland's exuberant overspending, by snapping up one of their top summer targets!

The player in question is Georges Mikautadze, 24, known for his clinical finishing, powerful left foot, and remarkable adaptability across various attacking roles. Primarily a centre-forward, he can also operate effectively on the left wing or as a second striker. His quick feet, composure under pressure, and ability to create scoring opportunities with both feet make him a valuable asset for any top side.

Despite winning their appeal against relegation, Lyon need to offload players in order to balance their books, and could bring in £25m - £30m for the highly regarded Georgian international. Sunderland's interest in Mikautadze has been widely reported by journalist Sacha Tavolieri. However, for a change, it seems the Mackems are facing a significant hurdle.

Having already committed a hefty £120 million to new talent this summer, Sunderland are reportedly unwilling to exceed £26 million for the 24-year-old, with their current budget for a striker capped around £17m, presenting Leeds with a golden opportunity. Securing Mikautadze's signature would undoubtedly be a tactical victory and a source of satisfaction for the Leeds faithful.

Morning all. Have nothing to contribute these days so not partaking a lot. One of the most boring summers, football related, I can remember. A bunch of signings I haven't a breeze about isn't doing much for the interest levels either. Full marks to Matt for finding endless topics, don't know how you do it mate <applause><applause>

    Thank God for nicknames

As we seemed to have found with Newcastle, negotiating with other PL clubs is difficult unless you have money to burn, expect most of our signings will be from abroad.
