Just for info, a few weeks ago I started on one of those weight loss drugs, Mounjaro. No side effects worth mentioning, as yet, and weight is coming off. Rarely feel hungry. Looks like they work. if you’re a fat twat like me, might be worth considering. I’m doing it because I’ve got a number of minor-ish health conditions that are probably due to/exacerbated by my weight. Plus I want to have an affair with a 21 year old I wasn’t quite fat enough - not often that is said to me - to get it for free (and don’t have a qualifying condition like diabetes) so had to pay. But worth it if it keeps working.
Doc has given me six months to increase my exercise or he's prescribing one of those drugs. Thing is though, when you come off them does the weight go back on or are you on them for life
A mate of mine has been on it for a few months now and he's lost loads of weight. Problem is though it makes him feel bloody awful. So much so, hes now stopped it as feeling really poorly all the time with it wasnt nice at all. Suppose it affects everyone differently.
But if you prefer to exercise less and eat more it’s a handy alternative. It’s not rocket salad. I’m ripped personally, just came on here to see who ate all the pies
I wouldn’t be able to take it if it made me feel crap, so far so good. I’m on a low dose to start, but I’ll only risk going up if the low dose is not working (so far it seems to be)
That’s the key question, does it all go back on? I’m not planning on stopping until I’ve lost a lot, there’s the psychological problem that you tend to give yourself permission to eat more once you’ve lost a bit, but I don’t see why you’d put a lot back on (if I can lose it, that is)
If you stop taking the drugs and return to your previous lifestyle the weight will go back on. Take into account how long it took you to put the weight on,20 years?, taking it off in 6 months is drastic. Also, as your body loses weight it will not be all fat it will also decrease your muscle mass. So you can weigh less but you can have a higher percentage of fat. I admire your decision to take this step, pay for the drugs, and be determined to lose weight. I am very interested to see how you get on with this. Also remember the mental side, if you have a bad 'cheat' day don’t worry to much, your body is missing things it is used to you just have to retrain it. Good luck and stay strong.
