Apparently the terms of the mutual agreememt between the club and Marti means that we'd be due compensation from any club or national federation if he takes another job...not sure how long that clause is valid for though

Anything less than promotion would be deemed a failure.

Do we get compensation as soon as he signs for Leicester? If the contract says he needs to be in post for 3-months we may well still be out of pocket.

Good luck to him though, I didn't enjoy last seasons football but always felt he wanted the best. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.

Well done to the club for setting this up. According to WLS Cifuentes might have to pay it himself, certainly if he wants to go to Leicester who don’t have any money at all and will not pay any compo for anyone, have to sell any players they can and are facing points deductions. Rohl, who can probably walk away from Wednesday like the players who haven’t been paid, is the preferred candidate, but why would he walk from one ****show to another?

Eze should be worth way more than 60m if you compare him to other players who go for much more.

I struggle to see Eze happy outside London, very strong commitment to his family, community and (apparently) church. Bidding war between Spuds and Gooners and let him choose between finishing second or below Palace.

Heard on the radio Arsenal would be offering cash plus a player or two…

I liked Marti, still do and wish him well.

However, Leicester have a big club mentality (perhaps they are a 'big' club, what ever that is), and I suspect he won't be given the leeway he was given at QPR.

If he starts the season with one win in 16 games like he did with us he’ll be sacked, which is what we should have done last October.

We will finish above them this season.

    Might both be relegated though.

Reported (albeit on Twitter) that we'd be entitled to £500k from Leicester...a tidy sum.

    From Sky Sports:
Cifuentes to take pay cut to become new Leicester boss
Exclusive from Sky Sports News' Rob Dorsett:

Marti Cifuentes will be taking a pay cut if, as expected, he becomes the new Leicester City manager.

Sky Sports News can reveal he has verbally agreed terms on a two-year contract, with the option of a further year.

But because he is personally paying back a large proportion of the £500k compensation he has been paid whilst on gardening leave at QPR, he will effectively be taking a pay cut to take over at King Power Stadium.

Sky Sports News has been told Cifuentes is happy to do so, and offered that to his new employers, because he is excited by the project, albeit with finances very tight at Leicester, and with the prospect of a points deduction looming over the club for alleged PSR breaches.

He is likely to have to sell players before he can buy any new recruits this summer.

How were the club, apparently strapped for cash, paying the manager more than a a yo-yo club which is reaping the rewards of of that rigged system by 'earning' parachute payments designed to keep them in the Prem forever?

I don't think we were. That is just saying he effectively is taking a drop by paying back the (or part of) £500k
