We are still waiting to hear if Neil and Cirkin are signing new contracts.

With the players coming in, both of them should be getting the message they may not even be starters for us next season.
This, with the Club odds on favourite for relegation.

Will this get them thinking along the lines of “If I’m unsure of getting a start here how difficult will it be to get a start at one of the established Clubs in the Premier league who already have top players in my position”

A dose of realism for any who think they can hold our Club to ransom by not signing a contract. They might think Liverpool or Spurs are interested but they will probably hardly get any games when they find 3 or 4 players in front of them.

I really believe this has all taken a few players by surprise tbh ...

... do Clarke, Watson and Stewart believe they've made great advances in their careers?

And are the likes of Cirkin, Neil and Mepham suddenly wondering where their future lies?

Let's hope next season, a few of the players who have turned us down over the last couple of windows have deep regret.

I think you're right about the 3 you listed as leaving and possibly regretting it.

Henderson off FC Porto's radar: will return to the Premier League
Jordan Henderson has an excellent relationship with Francesco Farioli, but will not accompany the Italian coach in the move to Dragão

Jordan Henderson, former Liverpool captain, is free on the market after not accepting an option to renew his contract with Ajax, where he was coached by Francesco Farioli, with whom he has an excellent relationship, but will not accompany the Italian in the move to FC Porto.

The experienced English international midfielder, 35, will return to England to play for Sunderland, the club in the city where he was born, recently promoted to the Premier League, being out of the Dragons' plans for the market.

Last season, the second he spent in the Netherlands after leaving Al Ettifaq, in Saudi Arabia, where he arrived in January 2023, from Anfield, Henderson added one goal and six assists in 45 games for Ajax.

She says he had a great season the one before last, didn't want him gone and played mostly out of position for them last season.

Her bloke is a big fan of him. Likes his speed and work rate.

It's a club worth being at mind. I think Metham would happily be here but Bournemouth have control of that. I don't think that will happen now somehow.

In the case of Stewart, he rolled the dice in a big way and got lucky. His agent should really have told him to sign the deal on offer. Then, we'd have a player who has barely played in three years!

Southampton must be rueing that move.

It's f*cking hilarious watching Sheff Utd, Coventry, Leeds and Burnley fans trying to denigrate our signings ...

... or make out we've paid way over the odds.

Who cares how much we've paid, we have loads of money <laugh>

Just wish we would announce a keeper so I can relax and enjoy the rest of the transfer window. Pattison needs serious competition and if he took a knock we’d be shafted, regardless of the quality of the outfield players we sign.

    @SunderlandAFC
'Sadiki and Diarra add to the identity we're building.' RLB on our two new midfield men

Regis Le Bris has shared his thoughts on Noah Sadiki and Habib Diarra, praising both players’ hunger, mindset, and alignment with the Club’s values. Sadiki, a versatile 20-year-old midfielder, arrives with a clear drive to take the next step in his development - something Le Bris quickly picked up on during their initial conversations.

“Noah was clear about his desire to keep progressing, to work hard, and to prove himself at the highest level,” he said. “He asked the right questions. He’s a smart guy and you could tell he had a real hunger to contribute from day one.” Le Bris believes Sadiki, along with fellow summer arrivals, will strengthen an already competitive midfield group.

“These players bring technical quality, mobility, and a real hunger to improve. They’re joining a group that already had strong foundations. We’re not starting from scratch - they complement what’s already here and add to the identity we’re building.”

On Habib Diarra, Le Bris underlined the importance of signing players who not only fit the playing style but also understand the Club’s connection with its supporters.

“When we presented the project to Habib, one of the first things we discussed was the Club’s identity and the connection with our fans,” he said. “That’s something we really value, and he’s fully aligned with that.”

The Head Coach is confident Diarra’s character and ability will shine through quickly, especially with the backing of the Stadium of Light faithful.

“Our fans have the energy an ambitious player needs to succeed,” he continued. “Now, it’s up to all of us to help him settle quickly and bring out his best. I’m confident he’ll have a strong impact on the pitch.”
