Tad worrying that there's no Perry Ng!!

He was in the club pics for the away shirt just a few days ago... Could he be the next big earner to jump ship?? <confused>

Or raise money for incoming players.

Didn't have a great season last time out.
After 4 seasons perhaps it's time to move on.

Like his combative style but sails a bit close to the wind on times and can be an accident waiting to happen. Gets caught out going forward too often and leaves gaps for left sided opposition to exploit. In my humble opinion, last season I thought Rinomohta at RB was the better player overall of the two but he's been allowed to leave.

The inexperienced Kapakio is the obvious heir apparent in that slot but otherwise there's very little cover. Please don't suggest Chambers as an option just because he's played there in the past. He's far too slow, and although others might disagree, he does a good job as a DM.

Fair comment (though don't let Clingo catch you saying that!!) but we're really begining to look pretty thin on the ground for experience in the team, especially across the backline.

Just hoping VT is true to his word and he is happy to back the gaffer in regards to replacements.
I know Brian Bazza Murphy has said he wants to operate with a smaller squad so the young uns have opportunities but surely he must have a few targets up his sleeve in terms of more seasoned players coming in??

The last I read was that Ng got injured on the first day of pre-season and would be out for 5 weeks. Never mind not travelling to Spain, he won't be fit for the first league game of the season.
Interestingly, no Alnwick.

I read Ng is out at least until December.

As for Alnwick- hope his absence is due to interest from another club; he’s not good enough for League 1 let alone the Championship. City need a new keeper.

Oh, wow. What the hell did he do?

Alnwick did OK. Not sure Horvarth is better.
To be fair, we were spoiled with quality keepers for many years.

I read somewhere Alnwick is a couple of weeks away to returning from injury. For me he's a better keeper than Horvath who probably wants to be playing at a higher level to stand a chance of playing in the World Cup for USA

I don't know if it's true, but it was mentioned to me today that we are the only Div 1 side not to have made any signings yet - the 3 or 4 youngsters for the Under 21's don't count.

If true that is a really side indictment of the state of the club.

I’ve read on various forums it’ll be 5 or 8-12 weeks
Picked this up on WoL. The first player referenced was Robinson, who is on the trip, but not taking a full part yet.

The only other senior players not on the pre-season trip are Perry Ng, who hurt his knee during the first day of pre-season training and is expected to be out for five weeks, thus missing the start of the season, and Jak Alnwick.

Alnwick, it's understood, has suffered a back spasm and will be out for a couple of weeks.

One of Horvath and Alnwick will need to depart for us to get a keeper in.
Not sure we'll attract much better than we have now we're in L1.

We'll either attract a young keeper who currently can't get a first choice spot with a Championship club but is prepared to wait and earn it by playing regularly a tier below, or an older experienced keeper on his way down looking for a pension.

One thing's for sure, those we have at the club at the moment didn't inspire confidence last season. I quite like Alnwick but he's not "commanding" enough in his box, whereas Horvath looks awkward and an accident waiting to happen everytime the ball goes near him.

1st proper kick about this evening.
I'm sure it will be a mix and match side with loads of changes at half time.

Watched some of the training session on the city website earlier.
That Salech is a lump.
