whoever the player is, they will probs be born later 90s early 00s so will make me feel old as heck, I could be probs be their mam which I dont like
Out of curiosity are we trusting Sacha when he said we want 8-9 more and that the owners want to go for it. Or is that just choosing to believe the reports we like again.
Personally I'm a Sacha-sceptic but I've got no reason not to believe him based on the evidence we've had so far.
I don't put a lot of trust in him personally but I believe what he said there, but that seems like common knowledge to be honest
Take anything and everything with a pinch of salt for me, info can be genuine one minute then the landscape changes the next
can you believe anyone on the internet though? can anyone of us believe what person A has put out on the internet? can you believe this?
Rightly or wrongly the only one of the online journalists I fully trust is Fab Romano, and even then you have to apply your own filter over what he says as you know a club or agent, or multiple, have dictated what he reports. The others are for me just a good sign of trends that something more reliable might be coming. The Athletic used to be my arbiter of truth with Sunderland but Michael Walker has disappeared off the face of the earth.
You'd likely be wrong and I can think of instances which might demonstrate why, but I think we should leave this conversation where it is.
Sacha does get a lot right, did he blow his load early with Petrovic? Yeah but not every journalist can get every transfer right, he’s been fed info which wasn’t that advanced, Mike McGrath did the same with Petrovic. Romano has been fed info from the club to say it wasn’t advanced or close, probably stopped at the enquiry stage truth be told.
Obviously we'll never find out what happened but my perspective of what I think happened with Petrovic, is that we knew all along he preferred Bournemouth but were trying to convince him and put an offer to him whilst he was waiting for Bournemouth. We probably also informally agreed a fee with Chelsea perhaps through agents, but never got to the stage of making a formal bid. As from what I can tell, formal bids only take place nowadays when everyones already agreed to the deal in principle
Human nature isn’t it to believe good news and try to downplay negative news? I don’t want to read negative stuff about us not getting players but that afternoon where we got one transfer then Petrovic was leaked by 2 trusted journalists, of course you’re going to want to believe it’s happening and downplay the reports pouring cold water on it. hindsight is a funny thing but the reporters downplaying it were completely right although the majority of us said they were full of **** whereas Sacha was king.
8-9 from where we are currently doesn’t make sense to me. The absolute most I can see is another 7 - and I don’t think we should even do that tbh. I wouldn’t go further than 6. Changes if there’s departures though.
I’m sure if you lads stopped bringing up why you would love to have him here, we wouldn’t keep reminding you why we shouldn’t
After Talbi I think GK ; CBx2 ; CM ; RW ; Striker as an initial 6. Any more beyond that will be peripheral or based on sales or loans for the likes of Huggins. So I think we agree.
I’ve already said this before though, as the captain of Liverpool do you think if it’s forced on him to be an ambassador he can say no if he doesn’t really want to do it? Imagine the fall out and the articles that would be written.
Actually I think maybe two more centre mids, but one of them being a very obvious squad player not a starter. Assumes Browne leaves of course.
