Nah you’ve got to get in early with that introduction bit (assuming these aren’t people you work with) and say something like you’re a bit knackered as you were doing a marathon for a leprosy charity yesterday or something marginally more credible so no one can really say anything if you aren’t contributing a lot. Make up anything. You volunteer one night a week for the Samaritans, newborn kept you up. Doesn’t matter.

Marnin' Prepping up for another event this weekend. 4 day jobbie so it's going to be knackering, but it's right next to the sea, they've got live music and the weather is looking glorious, so it should be good fun too. Not that 'fun' will be the adjective I'll be using when I'm packing down at 11pm on Sunday night.

What gets me most about these people is that their ego won't let them walk away. The guy is loaded and if I'm in his position I'd be off to one of my holiday homes to chill and I'd spit at any rag reporter that came within distance of me for the rest of my days.
