I would imagine that gunfire is very common at those GHF sites. I read a piece by an Israeli journalist who said that the GHF were bizarrely firing off live rounds to indicate when people could move forward and when they should stop…. Now if that’s not confusing enough in itself, they are then shooting at people who don’t follow the ‘route’ and they view as a risk The whole thing is an inhumane shambles and the sooner aid distribution is handed back to the UN and the aid agencies the better, despite what some right wing Israeli politicians and CK think about the UN, they have a proven track record over many decades of being the right people to undertake these sorts of logistics.
I'm not a fan at all of the new aid distribution system. But we have absolutely no idea how many people have died at or near these centers. We only know what Hamas wants us to know. Could be 500, could be 5.
Worth it for watching him fume when he loses... "... the Nobbly Peas prize has been stolen from us ..."
The United Nations human rights office has said it recorded at least 613 killings of Palestinians, both at controversial aid points run by the Israeli and United States-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) and near humanitarian convoys. “This is a figure as of June 27. Since then … there have been further incidents,” Ravina Shamdasani, the spokesperson for the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), told reporters in Geneva on Friday.
Israel's defence minister says he has instructed its military to prepare a plan to move all Palestinians in Gaza into a camp in the south of the territory, Israeli media reports say. Israel Katz told journalists on Monday he wanted to establish a "humanitarian city" on the ruins of the city of Rafah to initially house about 600,000 Palestinians - and eventually the whole 2.1 million population. He said the goal was to bring people inside after security screening to ensure they were not Hamas operatives, and that they would not be allowed to leave. If conditions allowed, he added, construction would begin during a 60-day ceasefire that Israel and Hamas are trying to negotiate.
Yeah eviction notice is in. Get ready to pack your bags, guys. Maybe some of the crying fannies in the UK will fly over and help you resettle into your new home and country Later on Monday, during a meeting at the White House, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about US President Donald Trump's proposal that the US take over post-war Gaza and permanently resettle its population elsewhere. Netanyahu said: "I think President Trump has a brilliant vision. It's called free choice. If people want to stay, they can stay, but if they want to leave, they should be able to leave... "We're working with the United States very closely about finding countries that will seek to realise what they always say - that they wanted to give the Palestinians a better future." Trump said: "We've had great co-operation from... surrounding countries, great cooperation from every single one of them. So, something good will happen."
Round the entire population up and put them in camps? Either Mr Katz knows nothing about history, in which case he's genuinely stupid; or else he does know the historical precedents, in which case he's genuinely evil. Either way, it beggars belief that a man named Israel should suggest something like this.
This so reminds me of the Yazidi people, that ISIS tried to obliterate and had found their way into the camps, so much so ISIS took over sections of the camp and started to apply their own rules within, carrying out their own punishments in secrecy, In this situation I see Hamas as ISIS. They had to send troops in to rescue some Yazidi women who were being held captive. Trouble is with over a million Palestinians, it's easy for Hamas like ISIS to hide within them, hopefully they have enough lessons from the past, but I will not be hold my breath on it. Hamas don't want peace and will never allow the Palestinians to bow to it. I think the camps came about after they fled Syria?
These people don’t have homes. They’ve been destroyed. They’re living on the streets amongst piles of rubble. Unless they pop in to one of the beach clubs for a few hours to take their mind off it. Now a Jew is providing them temporary shelter until he can find them a nice, stable and strong, new home for them to live in and yet here you’re still finding problems when it seems like the Jews have found a solution. Unbelievable.
I think it might be this bit that makes it soud a bit like a prison camp He said the goal was to bring people inside after security screening to ensure they were not Hamas operatives, and that they would not be allowed to leave.
