I find it pointless and messy. Why write the source, page number and author in the middle of a damn essay when you can just bookmark it and put it in the bibliography and keep the flow of the essay going?!

You only put the author and year in the body of the essay, the long bit goes in the bibliography

Ahh, we just footnote it and then never bother with bibliographies!
...And, just as I'm writing this, I realise that YES I do bother with bibliographies, I just forgot to put one in my last essay
