"Tyler's still here, I've had a good conversation with Tyler.

"He's not close to anything, really.

"He's a quality player so people are undoubtedly going to be after him, people asking questions.

"But he's said - and I've said to him - that as long as he's here, he's a Southampton player and a good Southampton player. That's what he's been."

Not exactly giving the impression that he wants to or will stay. So nothing new other than theres nothing close to happening. I doubt we want him going into the final year of his contract either tbh.

He has 2 years left so we don't need to sell unless someone makes us a good offer.

I don't think final year makes a huge difference to us tbh. His drop off in form this year means the fee won't reduce by that much next summer if he stayed and had a great season.

Yes but I mean, if we haven't persuaded him to sign a new contract by now, that seems highly unlikely to change. So if we don't sell him this summer, next summer we'll be forced into it because he'll be going into the final year then.

But there's no point selling him now for less than 40-50mill. Even if we had to sell for 30mill next summer if he helps us get back up we'd still be much better off.

Yeah may not make a huge difference to the fee we get. But does give any buyers more license to low ball us. If he does stay this summer then will massively depend on how he performs for us in the Championship. All a lot of ifs and maybes at this stage. I still expect someone will come in for him towards the end of the window.

If we have a great season he might want to stay. There is a lot to say about winning loads of games and everyone associated at the club is happy, morale would be high amongst the squad and he might be more inclined to sign a deal with a relegation release clause or something. Last season must’ve been awful to be in and around as a player coming into work everyday just demoralised as ****.

Yeah I agree. I'm not saying lets sell him now for a lower fee. I can imagine that we are hoping that someone comes in for him for £40-50m now so we can bank it and move on as otherwise if we only get a bid next summer for £25m we'd probably have to take it. A lot of water to flow under the bridge before we get to that point. Just the above quoted interview didn't give me the impression that Dibling wants to stay or that we think he will.

True. And that would be the ideal situation for us. But feels unlikely to me. I still think we'll sell this window personally but we'll see.

Oh yeah I’m sure all our prize assets will leave before the window shuts. Think it will be similar to last time we went down when Lavia, JWP and Livramento all left around the first game of the season when clubs have to make a move with the window closing.

No point in us dropping our asking price now, and no point buying clubs paying a high asking price now when either side could shift come mid/late August. Good thing for us is that we didn’t appear to drop our asking price too much last time so hopefully that will happen again. But I would be very surprised if any of Dibling, Fernandes or Ramsdale were here in September

I wonder if Dibling would be tempted to sign a new deal on increased wages if he is still here in September. At his age it’s a gamble to rely on either a suitable offer next year or to run his contract down. And ACL injury in October and he’s in a real tough spot

If there are suitable release clauses he could probably more than treble his wages

He'll be off and this is just the sort of comment you'd expect to ensure it doesn't happen on the cheap.

Good to see he doesn't seem to be forcing a move yet though.

He's a shy kid from Devon and has already "tried it" at a bigger club. A part of me wonders whether he could be another MLT who just feels more comfortable with what he knows.

He didn't like the academy set up at Chelsea. It's not going to stop him moving to a bigger club to play in their first team.

    Maybe, we'll see.
I don't think he walks straight into a top PL club first team right now.

Does he walk into the first team of any club that can afford to pay what we are apparently demanding for a relatively inexperienced young player?

Most PL clubs have spent 40m plus on a player at least once. But not many do it on players with his profile. And it doesn’t seem like (although I might be jinxing it) that we’re going to drastically reduce our asking price as the window goes on

Gossip is all over the place on this one. Valuation speculations ranges from £20m to £65m. But even at that lower one there is one consistent - that the buyer hopes they can get saints to accept far less
