Green bottles are ****e for beer really. If the light gets at the beer it can go a bit off. Doesn't happen in brown bottles, which is why they always used to use them, and some still do.

Think they still Import Peroni , so if it's poor it's been the journey, or the pub!

Funny that, I lived in Rome for 4 years and Peroni (Brown Bottle) was considered the lesser lager to Nastro Azurro (Green Bottle), even though it was brewed by the same company

Where do we stand on cocktails? Should this be included here or a separate thread? There's some beautiful and potent cocktails out there. Thoughts, guys?

Honestly mate, a really good cocktail is worth drinking. As a bloke, a true, proper martini, a Black Russian, a Manhattan, or an Old Fashioned are quality drinks. Some are so ****ing potent you lose the use of your legs if you have too many. But let's be honest, James Bond drinks cocktails (vodka martini, shaken not stirred). You want to be cool, try it. Bert the lads you're with will love one. (Exclaimer. They might not walk well after a couple)

Interesting! You'll be right about the Peroni then as you lived there. The bottle thing was told to me by a bloke who used to work in a brewery. A chemist actually, and a plonky!

Sat in the sun in the garden. Just poured a pint. Sun, sea and juice by Northern Monk. Very nice. Good balance of citrus fruit and hops. Tasty, but a speech destroying 6%.

Anyone not tried Northern Monk brewery - they do it well. And recommend their beer is served as cold as the north!

I've had Faith and Heathen Club by Northern Monk quite a few times, which are both lovely. The tropical Faith was pretty poor - a bit alcopoppy (if that's such a word)
