I doubt West Ham sell before the release clause expires. They want to pump the price up before then hence trying to bring other clubs into the equation.
I hope I am very, very wrong, but I have a horrible feeling Levy is looking at the squad and thinking: "These massively underperformed last season, I'd like to see how they do under a manager with a reputation for creating a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts." And the reality is, he's not far wrong. Ange made such a mess of it that we have no idea how good it bad this team actually is. That said, real ambition would mean replacing Richarlison, upgrading Solanke, upgrading Bissouma, adding depth at LB (or RB if Spence settles as a LB) and spending huge money on a long term Son successor. It's a lot to do and so far all we've done is annoy West Ham.
Worth mentioning the source for that claim was talkBALLS' accurately-monikered Alex Crook Still, it would be hilarious if we won the double next season and the Spanners were left with nothing
Alasdair Gold says we're offering Josh Keeley a new contract, while clubs are forming a queue to take him on loan
We've signed Danso (obligation), Tel (who many wanted if the price was lowered) for £35m (almost £25m lower than we were told he'd cost) and Takai. If people are right that our injuries were caused by Ange's training methods and style of play these signings are a good start in deepening the squad depth. It's only 7th July and we changed managers and back room staff 5 weeks ago. We need further signings but I think people are being a little impatient. Most of last season people spoke about Ange not having the tactics to get the best out of the squad and if that is true the we need to strengthen not overhaul the squad
Nico Gonzalez wants to leave the Mansourites, in spite only joining in February Surely worth pitching a loan at the very least
everyone does though no one strolls through last seasons winners? First timers Crystal Palace What we need is a shift in mentality…we need to believe we can win things. In most big games we are already defeated before kick off due to mentality. We certainly have the squad to win a trophy. I didn’t think Lvpl were invincible last season, they were the most consistent though and no doubt possess winning mentality. We had the ‘luck of the draw’ in the Europa and that just gave some of the fanbase the retort that we only won it because of the ‘luck of the draw’.
Signed as Rodri cover, what did he think was gonna happen at City? Unless it’s because of off the field reasons
Yeah but Spurs mentality and results against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and even Arsenal in reason seasons means a cup tie against them is likely to mean elimination. Europa was won because the competition wasn’t a high level. The acid test is the league and we all saw how that went
It’s quite possible there hasn’t been any significant transfers due to Thomas Frank wanting to assess the squad first and speak to certain players. The squad started returning on Saturday with more returning in the next week or so. Perhaps we need to sit tight for a bit longer. Still, the club does tend to buy certain players regardless of the manager/coach’s views and it’s rather frustrating that we have only signed some unknown Japanese along with Tel and Danso. I’ll give it a few weeks before displaying some frustrations!
Ali Gold’s (yet again) shot down the rumours of another Atleti bid for Romero and says Frank’s excited to work with him. I’m starting to grow in optimism we may indeed keep him now, if the new manager’s excited to work with him it’d be a ****ing real “welcome to Tottenham” moment if we then sell the guy.
Alasdair Gold with some world class snark about reports in Spain saying that Simeone has been calling Cuti daily: "The problem for Simeone is that if he has indeed been calling Romero every day, then he's been calling the wrong person. The phone number of chairman Daniel Levy is the one he really needs"
If Atletico have both the money on the payment schedule Levy decrees, then Romero is theirs. Otherwise continue deluding themselves that Romero is another Bale (in general or to Spurs in particular) .
One thing I'd like to point out to our players is that our goalie defends our end of the pitch and their goalie defends theirs. In between is something called the halfway line.If you spend half the ****ing game tapping the ball sideways and backwards until the opposition pick up our bad passes we will lose games. If we put the ball in their goal MORE than they do in ours,we will win games. Just thought I'd mention this.
