I'm not really sure why anyone is surprised by any of this, we've moved into a totalitarian era.

Everyone subscribes to it via their smart phone and digital banking, we have in affect given the government control.

I know the government bodies already look into bank accounts. I'm not going to but I could give several examples. And once this new legislation gets finalised it will give them permission to do whatever they want.

I'm afraid mate, until people stop using smart phones and digital banking, I'm going to keep saying tough **** and suck it up.

If I went out and did something stupid and got hurt because of what I did, people would laugh, well there's millions of people being stupid every ****ing day, you and me included sharing our data via one method or another, we've now given the authorities the ultimate power.

So if people want to complain about proscribed groups, for me you need to be complaining about the whole shebang, otherwise I'm just going to keep saying suck it up bro. Why do you think all those peaceful people were arrested in Westminster, after the group were proscribed, it's so they can get their data onto police databases.

I've already given what I think might be a way around the law, set up another group, with a title that don't offend, minus the original organisers, minus anyone who has an obvious criminal record linked to proscribed groups, remain peaceful, don't lob paint about, and you can protest peacefully.

We normally wait until a crime has been committed. Presumably this gives some sort of power to monitor known troublemakers more closely which in the circumstances seems a good thing. Bored of Hyacinth and Sirius getting a £37 fine and six weeks suspended sentence. I’d say hang them but proscribing PA while letting the likes of the PSC froth endlessly is a compromise.

Tech companies know far more about us than the Govt <laugh>

Govt does hold a **** load of info but often it isn't shared / accessible by other Depts .Ever since tax became payable on savings the Govt has had info on personal savings and the precedes mass digitalisation .

We are just making it too easy for the tech companies and government.

Even driving penalties have been extended to more and more local authorities. This was something I only use to see in London, now it's moving to Town Centres if local authorities seek permission for it. Stop in the wrong place, make a wrong turn, end up stranded in a box junction, the fine will wing it's way to you. It's a complete cash cow worth millions.

Whether you travel by car or on foot your movements can be monitored, we've seen how the police use it for monotoring protestors converging on London. We are told if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear lol. We saw how much government controlled people's lives during covid, and it's only going to get worst. So proscribed groups getting banned, is the least of my concerns in all this, because we have given them the power to implement it with ease.

Authorities might say it's all there to protect you, my response is why, I feel no safer now that I did in 1975.

I recently received a speeding fine from when I was in France. Wouldn't have bothered paying, but since I'll definitely drive there again, I don't want any hassle, so I reluctantly coughed up.

It was 46 euro btw, half what it would be in rip-off Britain. And you get 30 days to pay at the reduced rate, unlike here where it's only 14 days.

I got a parking fine in the states once, I'd fed the meter so had to ask someone why I got the fine, it was because my vehicle wasn't facing the flow of the traffic for my side of the road. I wasn't sure how to pay it, I think you could take it to a certain convenience store to pay, but I was meeting relatives who live out there, so they paid it for me. But yeah it's just one big cash cow in this country.

Every speed camera you see on the roads is a continuous source of revenue for the Government. And every parking ticket you get is revenue for local government. So while it may be true that making people drive slower saves lives, and making them park responsibly keeps traffic flowing, collecting fines on camera is easy money and way too lucrative for any government to pass up.

It all puts me off driving tbph, which probably suits the objective of keeping vehicle numbers on the road down. Humans make mistakes and I begrudge a system that treats you like robots.

I agree about the over surveillance in people's everyday lives and we are moving more towards an authoritarian state

But the decision to proscribe this group as a Terrorist group is less to do with surveillance and more to do with trying to shut down protest.

As I mentioned to windy, we already have laws for criminal trespass and criminal damage. But what the Govt have done is effectively compared a protest group with people who would happily set off a bomb in a crowd of teenage girls at a pop concert, and criminalised old grannies who hold placards under the prevention of terrorism act.

The thing is, we already have laws to deal with both the crimes that are committed and to surveil the people who we think are a risk

What the Govt have done is criminalise people who should have a right to peaceful protest.

They do have the right to a peaceful protest. What’s the point of proscribing any group then? People have been openly cheering for Hamas and Hezbollah for nearly two years freely so this feels a bit of a non-issue.

No, clearly. I’m saying people on the ‘peace’ marches and the slightly downy one from Kneecap have very openly supported them and been fine so it’s a bit silly to assume we’re going to start seeing the grannies dopey enough to wave a placard about suddenly doing time. As ever, they’re free to support their Palestine hobby without supporting a group of people intent on committing crimes.

Well they don't coz they just nicked 30 people under the prevention of Terrorism act, who were literally just holding placards.

I don't think you can label them as cheering for Hamas and Hezbollah either. People would say that they are protesting for the rights of Palestinians and against both the Israeli Govt and the UK Govt for being complicit in enabling them.

The point of proscribing a group as a Terrorist group, imo would be for groups that commit actual acts of Terror. Criminal damage and Trespass isn't that.

But we are already in an authoritarian state, you just need to open your eyes. This is what we all wanted for an easier, lazier way of life. We allowed them to ban smoking, we allowed them to ban vapes, we allowed them to tax the hell out of alcohol, we are allowing them to tax sugar. It was only 5 years ago you couldn't go kiss goodbye to Granny on her deathbed, cough, cough. We allow them to herd us at football games. Social media posts are monitored, don't drive into London unless you got the right type of car. Don't overtake cyclists too close or get caught with your bumper in a box junction. We're going to peep in to your bank accounts to keep an eye on you, when we want and without notice. So why the **** should we let people go trash military aircraft....we all wanted this remember.

Some are. Some are very overtly supporting Hamas, holding up Nazi symbols and all sorts and get away with it. I’d argue their actions, while minor compared to what we’d traditionally think of when thinking of terrorism, could be defined that way. Criminal damage and trespass doesn’t cover the bloke they put in hospital and could easily have killed.

I can't wait for the old bill to pull the stun guns (Tasers) out on some old granny. <laugh>

Something else that's overly used by cops these days.
