From 1st January 2026 it will be mandatory for all Spanish registered cars to carry a V16 DGT connected SOS emergency flashing light. In a nutshell if you breakdown or have an accident you switch the light on, place it on top of your car (it’s magnetic) and it not only warns other drivers but it will also transmit a signal and your location to the DGT (responsible for road safety). If you are on a motorway the DGT will be able to put warnings up on overhead signs to warn motorists and (at some point after the introduction) the GPS location will be sent directly to the tow truck company that is included in your car insurance. Cars not registered in Spain won’t need one but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have one. Seems like a good system to me. https://n332.es/more-questions-about-emergency-lights/
Texas floods: 81 dead and dozens missing as more rain looms - BBC News The flash flooding in Texas is just terrible and heartbreaking. So many children killed after a camp got washed away. The Guadalupe River rose by 8 metres in just 45 minutes. Of course, it had to happen while people were sleeping which gave them no chance at all.
When I think mine is broken, I give it a quick shake and more often than not it starts working again.
