I don't think he'll be the only defender, I still think we'll be in for Scalvini. Thiaw's flexible and can play RB.
Seems like Man U's sell on clause is causing the complication. Typical. And a particular source tells me Elanga has changed agent mid-negotation, which will be an added factor.
Annoying how Saudis helped Villa out by signing Duran for around £65m and then just 6 months later loan him out to Fenerbahce. Nice one. Please buy Longstaff for £80m.
I’ve heard one reason is that Forest are asking for the removal of Anderson’s (fixed price) buy back clause before they sanction Elanga’s transfer.
I'd not buy into that unless we are getting a decent wedge off the asking price. While we'd still need another winger, Elanga for £30m, Anderson Buy back removed and Murphy would be a decent deal for us as while I love Murphinho he's not getting any younger and coming off a career high so will never be as valuable as he is right now.
Would be interesting to know a) if there is a clause and b) what that clause is. I'd be all over getting Anderson back BUT he'd probably get more games and experience at Forest this year.
We've also got Sanusi in and around the first team. Barnes can cover right well enough, surely. Plus I still feel we're signing someone like Adeyemi, so maybe time is up for Murphy? Doubt it, mind, Eddie loves a smiler.
So, you're expecting us to sign Scalvini + Thiaw AND Elanga + Adeyemi. And there I was thinking you doubted the clubs recruitment ability/ambition Personally, I doubt we do much more than Elanga, Trafford, Thiaw/Scalvini/another. Possibly a striker depending on spend on the previous three. Possibly a midfielder if we sell Longstaff and Willock.
He's also part of the senior leadership team and had better stats than everyone we've been linked to last year
