Of course there are going to have to be compromises, on both sides. You know that. Not sure if you missed it off deliberately, but East Jerusalem is illegally occupied by Israel.
Clearly that ain't gonna happen is it. Even Hamas know this. There has to be compromises, on both sides. What do you make of Netanyahu arming another Islamist splinter group with links to Islamic state ?
Proscribing them as a terrorist group was a ridiculous decision in the first place. For the people who break into military bases and damage equipment, that is criminal trespass and criminal damage. And we already have laws to deal with that. Suddenly now you've got a situation where people peacefully protesting on their behalf could face 14 years in prison for supporting a terrorist group It's a complete abuse of power and a waste of police and counter terrorism agencies time In short, it's an absolute fkin lash up.
Still ****ing ridiculous they got into a base btw Base near where I live even sitting in the car park a few mins you get a soldier storming out, how did the RAF not catch people approaching planes ffs
Yeah unbelievable lax security. Personally, I think that's why they've come down on them like a ton of bricks, because they exposed the woeful level of security at an RAF base.
I agree, it's a reaction of embarrassment, they got caught looking like dicks. Prosecute the people responsible and then punish the responsible RAF officers
Obviously some dozy old cow with a placard isn’t doing 14 years. Just don’t openly support proscribed terror groups. People can still spend their lives waving a flag around in terrorist fancy dress if that’s what they like doing.
Probably the same way you could probably get into most places. Pretend you are the maintenance/gas/cleaner etc
There will also be a culture amongst the staff there that "**** all happens here anyway" which breeds people on shifts slacking off, especially people on night shifts. There's a reason people call them "Netflix shifts" Seen it at every single place I work at with low activity, people just start not giving a ****/being too confident that nothing will happen
Mentioned it before, but we have become very used to peace and security in this country, even given the odd terrorist incident. We're now 3 generations along from those that experienced warfare on these shores and there is still a very old school approach in the armed forces that 'we know best and we know how these things work' Like Bobby said, you could probably still get into those places posing as a maintenance worker, or as I joking put it, dressed as a boy scout selling cookies. Wasn't there a couple of lads who recently demonstrated this by putting on high viz vests and carrying a ladder ? I think they tried to show how easy it was to get into most places.
Or just don't proscribe protest groups as terrorists groups. Spraying a can of paint over a plane isn't exactly on a par with ISIS like.
And that’s the straw that broke the camel’s back. The same group rammed a weapons factory with a van and attacked a security guard and coppers with a sledgehammer. Where do we draw the line? Being proscribed doesn’t mean they have to be taken as seriously as ISIS but they’re only going to push harder if you let them.
