Demba Ba in January if we don't get Podolski?

He seems very nice, scored 11 this season (same as Aguero) in the prem alone.

Could get him for less than Podolski IMO, Podolski would be better but I'm sure Ba would be happier to sit on the bench.

    Thoughts?

I think Ba is decent quality and he's proved that he can score goals regularly in the premier league. I'm not sure I'd want to see us making a bid for him though.

i have been watching him and i think with good service he could get a ridiculous amount of goals.

He is a NATURAL goalscorer . unlike certain players who will remain nameless .

Im sure he would love a move to the Arsenal .

Nah i wouldn't go for him, he is a very good player but i think that in all honesty their are better players out there like sow at lille and of course podolski.

I think the benefit of Ba is you'd get a bullish attitude about him. When you have a player on the bench who you bring on to score a goal, do you take Podolski, who can't seem to score in the league, or Ba, proven in the PL and will run through anyone who tries to stop him.
You need a player on the bench who will offer something different to the player on the pitch. That's why I facepalmed every time last year when Arshavin came on for Nasri. It just won't get you anywhere.

I like Podolski, I think he's great. I want us to get him. But you guys underrate Ba. He's not another Andy Carroll.

    Record in the Bundesliga
Apps: 20 Goals: 9 (at a side that had only just got promoted.)
    Record in the Premiership
Apps: 13 Goals 7 (at a side that was to be relegated)
    ------16-------11

Based upon what I have seen of him he'd be a good, safe buy. Higher quality than Bendtner, Park and Chamakh and wouldn't cost the earth. He could come into the team and be good instantly. Look at Mertesacker, proven in Germany but he's still adjusting to the pace. We can't do that with a striker in our one-striker formation. We'd just not score goals for a little while. Podolski would have to play on the wings (I know he can) as a sub for about half a season before he'd get his chance.

Fair play OP, would be a good idea. He wouldn't even be cup tied.

Ba has got dodgey knees. We don't need another crock who is out for half the year.

He would be a great addition to the squad and is proven in this league unlike Podolski, the only question I have is will he be going to the ACON in January? if he is then we might as well wait until the summer to make a bid.

Damn, we could really of done with another Striker at this time period especially considering Chamakh is also going so we'd be in trouble if anything happened to Van Persie. Still I think Demba Ba is a very good player and the posts saying they would never take him are being ridicules, his goal scoring record is very good as gunner.b.allright stated which is exactly what we would need.

I dont think he's any better than Emile Heskey, Yakubu or Kevin Davis. (remember how Chamkah started his career at Arsenal?)

James Beattie, Marlon Harewood, Adam Johnson, Aiyegbeni, Benny McCarthy just a few examples of strikers who had a good Season but never really followed it up.

Djemba Ba Will NEVER be a World class striker. He's a poor mans Adebayor.

I'm just fed up with being linked to sub par players.

To improve our squad we need to bring in players better than what we already have.

Eden Hazard, Yoan Gourcuff, Mario Goetze, Podolski, Higuaine, Vertonghen.. that's the quality of player we should be getting linked to!

Gourcuff is very poor and Podolski doesn’t have an exceptional goal scoring record despite his form for Germany I don’t either of these are better than we already have, Demba ba has a great goal scoring record and is proven in the premiership as for Chamakh its well known hes not an out in out goal scorer, calling Demba Ba a sub par player is hugely inaccurate and disrespectful given his performance so far for Newcastle.

Good shout...I was calling for us to sign Demba Ba when he left West Ham. We could have had him for whatever Newcastle paid at time (something like 5 mil no?)

Gourcuff has more ability than Demba ba could ever dream of having. Under wenger he would be an absolute world beater.

Do you not think that Henry is going to sign short term for a little cameo role? Would be fitting with the statue and he being at the club already?

Yes exactly it's all about talent. Much like Henry, Pires, Vieira he's a world class player that's not regularly living up to his potential. Just the kind of player Arsene would improve. He would get fitter at Arsenal than he's ever been and he would suit our style of play.
