Tight game today and yet again our saviour RVP came to the rescue. Alot of the players were below par but I'm especially disappointed in Ramsey. I know there might need to be some patience after the leg break but I have the opinion he might not reach the level we need. His defense work is very poor but you'd forgive that if his attacking play was strong but it's simply not. In this formation he's often playing just in behind RVP yet the timing of his passes never seem to work. He also careless gives away possesion in dangerous situations. Song has been immense this season and Arteta has been steady so once Jack's back Ramsey will be dropped for sure. But until then I really believe Rosicky or Coquelin need to be given a chance in place of Ramsey
Ramsey overhit several through balls today, and everyone pushed the ball through when we were clearly going to be offside. Wake up boys.
I initially thought that ramsey would be dropped, but i honestly would drop arteta when wilshere comes back, ramsey is the one midfielder that plays the furthest forward out of arteta song and wilshere. Arteta has been ok but he was only brought in as a stop gap, he clearly isn't a replacement for cesc or nasri, he plays far too deep for a start and he just isn't ass good as those players whereas although i haven't been ramsey's biggest fan in the past he has played a lot better recently and i think that if wedge does get gotze in january then ramsey will make way anyway and it will be a midfield of song wilshere and gotze. It was vital to get a result today and people tend to forget that we are still waiting on 3 of our first team to come back in gibbs sagna and wilshere. However i think that koscielney was good today and he is an ever improving player and i really like the look of miquel, in my opinion he should be starting ahead of santos at least until gibbs gets back, then i would be happy with either one of them playing.
I was one of Ramsey's biggest fans when he was first trying to break into the team, he seemed to be the complete CM with great vision mixed with an engine he seemed like a Parlour/Cesc hybrid mixed with fantastic shooting. That's one of the reasons it was so devastating when the leg break came as we saw how that had affected Eduardo. He seems to have his fitness back now as he lasts 90 mins most games but he currently has 2 massive flaws in his game which make him a liability; 1. Concentration - In the final few games last season Ramsey played several horrible back passes that lead to goals against us. And today he doesn't seem to show enough thought as to when to release the ball before our forwards are in an offside positions 2. Physical Presence - He gets bumped of the ball far too easily, Cesc for a smaller player knew how to shield the ball or try and get stuck in. I don't expect him to be a Song but when he's jogging back casually rather than tussling with the opponent its so frustrating and seems lazy He's had a 2-3 decent games this season but as a whole been very disappointing and I've seen Rosicky and Coquelin have far, far better games in an Arsenal shirt this season
Have to disagree with you about Arteta, I think he's a big part of our recent run of form, ever-present in our midfield.
Arteta has done really well since he came to Arsenal. I like the way that he and Song link up in MF to release Santos down the left. Arteta sits deeper than most Centre Mids, but that's no bad thing seeing as Song likes to get forward. I like Ramsey, I think he's got a great future at Arsenal, but when Wilshere is fit, he will take his place without question really.
I would'nt say without question. Arteta is currently playing in Wilshere's position. Our midfield has been working because it's balanced. Song as the DM, Arteta as the deep lying playmaker and Ramsey as an attacking Midfielder. Although Ramsey has been making errors what he does have is genuine pace and power going forward. We would miss that if he was out of the team.
I'd have to say that I'd still pick Wilshere ahead of Ramsey. I think a MF of Arteta - Wilshere - Song would still have good balance and creativity.
Ramsey is overrated and was being carried by better players. Now he is in the spotlight his failings are very clear. ....and he's Welsh :/
Ramsey will be world class. He was picked by Gary Speed as the standout youngster to lead the Welsh national team. (ahead of Bale) He's some making mistakes at the moments but he also shows moments of real class. He's technically skilled, far more mobile than Arteta and has a cannon of a left foot. The fact that Wenger picks him ahead of Diaby, Rosicky, Benayoun etc.. shows how much ability he has. Also its worth noting Ramsey's best performances have come in big games, against Chelsea he was absolutely first class as he was against United last Season.
To me it shows he is considered the best of a bad bunch. I don't disagree when you say he has had some big games, but then so had Diaby, Arshaven, Bendtner etc... Ramsey may come good in time, but for now he certainly isn't an automatic choice in my books.
He seems to rush his forward passing a bit too much and always plays too many forward passes for the sake of it. Needs to calm down and just wait for the right moment. He did that against Chelsea and showed why he is such a talent. Needs to add consistency to his game. But he is only 20. Maybe us seeing the likes of Fabregas and Wilshere play with such brilliant consistency has made us expect the same from Ramsey. The other two are freaks and only few players can sustain their quality week in week out at such a young age. Ramsey is clearly not of that school. But he does have immense potential and has showed us that. For now he should remain in the team because he is our future along with Wilshere,Chensey and a few others. The likes of Rosicky,Yossi and Arshavin have not shown enough for me to say Ramsey is any danger of dropping out of the team. While for the likes of Coquelin and Frimpong its a case of being different players and they would be after Arteta or Song's place in the team. Ramsey should clearly remain in team for now.
He is a rough diamond. Like I said he is not a freak like Wilshere or Fabregas who both came into the team at a young age and played like they were experienced pro's.
The big difference with Ramsey and some of our other youngsters we've had is that his best performances have come in the big games against top teams. That shows that the ability & mentality is all there. He's 6'0, relatively quick, strong and is technically sound. (whereas Denilson, Traore and many others looked great in the carling cup but could never produce the same form when they stepped up a level)
