Well the lads are back in training Monday. Was hoping a few more in the door by day 1. but, it aint looking good is it. Not to concerned just yet still plenty time but you would like the majority in to form that bond and gel in to our system sooner rather than later. I don't think we are struggling to get heads in. I Just think the key players we want are harder to shift and do deals with.
I’m amazed we haven’t more in, we secured promotion 4 weeks before Sunderland, we had a head start on knowing availability, fees and wages. Also a concern that we’ll have players like Meslier and Harrison turning up, and no left back. We need a full preseason with the backbone of the squad, we need to start getting our finger out
Think it unlikely we’ll bring in any wide front men till we see what happens with Solomon. We have Gnonto/James/Ramrazani and Harrison so we can afford to wait that one out. It’d be nice to sort the keeper soon, but guessing that’s not gonna resolve itself till there’s any movement with Mes. Assuming there’s a left WB/FB already identified and on the way, hopefully they will pull rabbit's “out of the hat” with a quality striker and midfielder before too long. However I’m still expecting those coming in, will be mainly, largely unknown to the fan base. Don’t have a problem with that necessarily, seems to work for Brighton/Brentford and Bournemouth. Just hope it works for us.
For me, we have two new CBs and no LB and are awaiting a new keeper The back four need to start working together asap, they need to build that understanding, to go into preseason with one RB (Byram not signed a new contract as yet) is terrible decision making The things we could afford to get away with in the championship will be punished in the PL
We don’t know what’s really going on behind the scenes tbf but our transfer strategy appears to be extremely disorganised and way behind schedule.
Loving this one. I was at the Etihad a few months ago watching City v Club Brugge and this guy was superb.
I can't believe I'm saying this and defending the 49ers after 2 years as I'm probably their most vocal critic on here. I don't think it's disorganised. I think it's done quietly. There's no need to advertise who we're in for cos it alerts other teams to half decent players and we're using the Red Bull scouts for player so we know they're good. I don't want another player to be linked with us and for Sunderland to out bid us and pay over the tops and us to lose out again. Sign smart
I think Sunderland are going to struggle this season. They're going big and not smart. They're going to struggle against the likes of Liverpool.
I think any of the promoted teams should be setting up a low block and a team that can battle and win set pieces. I'm more than pleased with our recruitment strategy so far, but would like to see a statement player soon obviously. Sunderland have signed some good players that's for sure, but I'm not convinced it will work Certainly exciting times for their fans though

My post was really that we can at least wait for Solomon, because we know he is likely to fit into whatever team dynamic we decide upon. Obviously if he doesn’t materialise and then we go elsewhere, your concern is justified .
