****ing hell. Are we a recently promoted club or established prem team ? The calibre of player we're able to attract is ridiculous. Sure, there is always a risk as they don't have premier league experience, but they are from top sides is their leagues, qualified for or played in Europe, international players... It's crazy. Plus we're getting them in before pre season so they'll have plenty of time to bed in
I’m gonna be a bit of a dick and say none of our signings yet strike me as looking like more of an established prem team. Some of our links have (Bulka, Petrovic, Mika), but the ones we’ve actually landed I wouldn’t have been surprised to see Leeds or Burnley sign. That’s not to say our signings haven’t been good, indeed I’m very happy with them and very excited by Sadiki and Diarra in particular. I just think they’re “normal” promoted prem signings. Indeed many neutral fans might say it’s a risky strategy. I think there’s a danger all of us get / have got carried away by links that haven’t come off yet. They still might come off. But until they do we have to try to keep grounded with what we have.
He might be down as a right footed winger, but looking at the footage, he can clearly use his left foot too. Looks like an exciting addition. # Pace and skill
I think why I'm getting excited is we are sticking with the model that got us here. Too many teams get promoted and abandon their plans just to stay in the league. We are going fir the next calibre of youngsters now, and while I would like to see some British players (4th time today I've mentioned it i think lol), I love the upside in these players I love the upside for this season but also beyond this season Will work, who knows but I'm so pleased we are sticking with our model
yeh agreed mate. And whisper it quietly but if we get relegated I don’t think we’ve signed a player yet that would immediately be 100% leaving. Diarra closest for sure.
I also dont think many will lose their value if we did go down I love that all our signings so far are mobile players, players who cover the ground at pace - it's so important to have that at the top level
This just gets better. I’ve seen this lad live tearing Man City apart. Unbelievable signing. He’s rapid.
Champions League experience and/or international, young and plenty of time to develop further.... That's what I like about them Sure nothing is guaranteed but it sure as hell sets us up strongly for whatever happens imo
Delighted we are targeting Club Brugge, they’ve got one of the most exciting and youngest squads in the Champions league. They all thrived last season. This is a hell of a signing.
Will we still be able to field a team when the African League of Nations kicks in . All looking way way better than any of us could have dreamed of though.
yes agreed but I also don’t think they’d have been out of the reach of the other promoted clubs was more my point.
But no-one is, that's the modern day Premier League. Some of the players we're signing are playing or have the opportunity to play Champions League football and instead they're coming to Sunderland. I don't think that can be underestimated just because Leeds could also attract them.
absolutely. Was more a note of caution that people were getting carried away with Bakayoko, Mikautadze, Petrovic etc. one or two of them might come off but so far none have. I really want Petrovic me. That one’s a game changer
