I was sworn off ebikes like a ****in vigilante <laugh>

And then I had a go on one lol

I've still got my mountain bike. This one is more like an all terrain electric moped. I picked it up cheap 2nd hand and it's loads of fun. But yeah I used to think it was cheating, but having one now, it's just a bit of a different 'sport'. It means you still put in the same amount of effort, but just go a lot further.

I guess some people use them to just iron out all of the challenges, whack them on the fastest setting and blast around everywhere at top speed. But I'm aiming to get 50/60 miles out of it and then use it on a bike packing trip

The top speed by law is 15.5 mph, I remember reading up about these in the Kent rag. Anything more than that and it's considered a motor vehicle which requires tax, mot and insurance.

Although to be fair, I'd probably prefer an e-bike, but that is one ugly ****er, but if it does what you want it to that's all that matters. I've been tempted by e-bikes, but I know a bike of any kind I will just kill myself, so my thought process is best avoided.

Yeah we were having this convo a few weeks ago about ebike law.

And yeah it is an ugly mofo lol. But I got it for a steal and it's a bit of an experiment for me to see if I can live with one.

It will never replace my Mountain bike though, as it's not really designed for the really rough technical stuff and it's got bottom end cheap components that would probably fall to bits if you started throwing it down steep sections.

It's just a toy to have a bit of fun with. And I can see why people, especially older people or those with health problems or injuries would definitely be attracted to an ebike. As it allows people who otherwise wouldn't be able to get out, to get some exercise and have a lot of fun.

They call those frames a 'step through'. They are designed for old farts like you who can't get their leg over anymore <whistle>

Been round at a mates house today who helped me with a welding job. He’s one of these people who love to take things apart and build new things from them.

His barn is like a cross between scrap heap challenge and some kind of scientist’s lab. Anyway, he’s got this thing parked in one corner, a British Army issue 6 wheel all terrain ammo delivery truck.

He’s an Israeli Jew of Arab descent who did his conscript in the Israeli army, and no I don’t hate him and neither does Bob Vylan

And these are the gates to his place <laugh>

Just put BBC2 on and Jeff Lynne and ELO are on preforming all their songs.
    Worth a watch.

Turned it on when you said, as I didn't know it was on. Heard four songs so far.

That's one album I did have on vinyl (Out of the Blue 1977).

I always remember trying to electrocute myself once, as one of their songs were playing, it's not something you forget volts running through your body.

After watching Glastonbury with people like Rod Stewart and Neil Young it's nice to watch someone who still has a voice.

I think like Queen they went to that operatic stage that added to their fame. Which is probably why those were my two favourite groups.

They still got it mate, my three kids (and their mates) are in early 40s now and say a lot of bands they go see are showing their age badly.
