No one gets your sarcasm as you say the same things when you're being serious. If you have to point your sarcasm out, then it's clearly not working.
I thought we had previously bid around £25m so assumed we'd go up to (maybe) £30m. Doubt we'd offer £40m for a keeper? Equally, the press often get all this completely wrong in terms of actual bid values.

Still think £40m is steep for a young keeper. And those estimates you have are without any potential sales. So also depends on the likes of Longstaff, Willock, Barnes, Targett, Dubs/Vlach, etc. Could have even more to play with.
Martin Hardy in The Times is now reporting that the Elanga offer has been accepted at £55m + add-ons, that Trafford is also nearly agreed at around £30m and that we are now fully in for Scalvini too.
