    There’s been rumours….

Hull City have been placed under a transfer embargo by the Football League as fears grow over the financial stability of the Championship club.
Telegraph Sport understands Hull are under increasing scrutiny over alleged non-payments to other clubs and local suppliers, with possible further sanctions including the prospect of severe restrictions over the next three transfer windows.
Hull owe almost £1 million to one Premier League club and with concerns over future instalments agreed with other clubs the EFL has now taken action by imposing a registration embargo.

The ban means that Hull will not be permitted to register new players without the consent of the EFL, while they will only be allowed to sign free agents or signings that do not involve any fees.
Hull are in talks with the EFL over their long-term financial situation, with the prospect of further action this month.
While Acun Ilicali, Hull’s Turkish owner, has pumped huge amounts of money into the club since his takeover three years ago, there are alarm bells ringing over cash-flow and various financial issues.
Earlier this week a deal to sign Aston Villa striker Louie Barry collapsed after a breakdown in negotiations with the player’s representatives.
Hull are under pressure to deliver certain financial information and the EFL could veto any transfer deals until they are satisfied with funding for future seasons.
A range of sanctions could be possible, including a transfer ban or the club being placed under a strict business plan.
If Hull also exceed the 30-day rule for late payments, they could also be subjected to a three-window transfer restriction which has been imposed on Sheffield Wednesday.

Ilicali told supporters at a fans’ forum earlier this week: “We don’t have financial problems. It’s true we are spending too much money.
“Sometimes you can have little technical problems. The club has loans, but those loans are to me. I will not ask for all the loans.”
Hull avoided relegation on the final day of last season, with Ilicali then dismissing head coach Ruben Selles after a review of the campaign.
Selles has been replaced by the vastly experienced Bosnian manager Sergej Jakirovic.
Ilicali, an entrepreneur and media mogul, acquired the club in January 2022 for a fee of around £30 million.
The EFL and Hull City declined to comment."

If this is correct, then it may well see our newly confirmed head coach and team depart rather quicker then anticipated, doesn't appear from the outside a bloke to be messed around. Let's hope it's a blip, but many have warned of this for some time, answers need to be given, and quickly.

Unless this is very quickly resolved and is a technicality (which I doubt) I think it’s time to ask for Acun to sell up.

hopefully it's as someone else has said and it's the Barry loan fee that we were stupidly trying to use to negotiate him coming in and Villa have got ****ed off with it and reported us to the EFL.

We'll probably send the money over and it'll resolve itself. Hopefully.

Shows that we're a complete clown show behind the scenes though. But remember Acun owes it all to himself, so it's fine....

If we breached PSR, it would be bad. This sounds like a cash flow problem, which is significantly worse. He’s skint (or at least not wealthy enough to fund us from his own pocket) and he’s been funding the club on a day-to-day through third-party loans. Sounds like his credit has run out.

The thing that gets me though is that he sat there in a room full of supporters who still had enough respect for him to turn up and listen to what he had to say and he just lied directly to their faces and to us who watched the livestream.

We only signed two players with transfer fees to current PL clubs - when we bought Egan from Burnley and when we bought Burstow from Chelsea. So probably the season before. Unless it's a loan fee.

Looks like Acun has a cashflow issue again, and hasn't been able to fund the club over the off-season period. I hope staff and players have been paid on time. I have a feeling a few vultures will start circling the club now, looking to pick some bargains.

I am not sure who the 'Prem' club are, but surely Aston Villa will be owing us money for the Philogene sale, but it could be an unpaid loan fee for Louis Barry.

Whatever it is, Acun's re-assurances given at the Q&A on Monday aren't looking great now. The Botanic lads will be getting concerned about their free trip to Turkey coming up.

Just surprised that it was a national paper not a local journalist that has broke the story

Just another thing that doesn't add up.
Why would he agree to that if we were on the verge of running out of money.
It all makes no sense whatsoever.
Let's not hang draw & quarter the owner just yet.
Hoping for a simple explanation ..... asap like!!!

We loaned players like Fin Burns, Carl Rushworth and Louie Barry, so it could be linked to that. But the wording used was transfer fee, which is a distinction. Maybe 20 years ago there wouldn't be much difference but most lay people know them to be separate types of deal now.

You’re like one of those Japanese soldiers in the Philippines who kept fighting decades after WWII ended. Let it go, man. It’s over.

I'm hearing we've past 30 days late on a loan fee payment.

    If that's a thing.
