Same thing, they say it is a hazard, unless you pay. Dress it up how you like then go and ask the Beverley traders what they think. They think it's a rip off. Just got back from Beverley, vans, lorries and council vehicles parked and driving all over Toll Gavel, which is pedestrianised. Dodging them is the real hazard, not an A board outside the corner shop. Good news; The Romanian female 'homeless' beggar, who spends most of the week sat on her arse pretending to be homeless in York, until her and her beggar mates get picked up at the end of their shift in a Merc, was getting questioned by the police. Who said 'about time?'
Yeah, the Scottish government spin that yarn as well,I'll say no more but I know different (up here of course)and can't really speak for Hull...
Not sure if it's what you meant Ric, but it's a fact some (quite a few) don't want to be helped. If you are ever passing Sokells you'll see the evidence. Yep, even here. Not sure how the heck it's allowed month after month. I think Burnsie made a fair point.
Mental health/substance abuse - they've probably been kicked out of their homes due to their inability to look after themselves and have probably accepted that they can't look after themselves, so give up. They should be looked after and treated by the public health sector, in safe staffed homes with staff who are trained to look after such ppl. Unfortunately there's not the funds for it for all the homeless ppl. However, there are billions to send to the Ukraine and spend on the defence budget though. The £500 billion in avoided tax would sort it out.
I've seen some of the accommodation in Glasgow and I'm also aware of the amount of crime that happens in them. The Police are regular visitors of a night-time....Drug/alcohol abuse, violence, attacks(sexual and otherwise) occurring on a daily/nightly basis. Yes,maybe they have got a choice but there are a lot of young females in Glasgow unprepared to take that chance or 'don't want to be helped',I can't say as I blame them!!! I personally know a girl who lives on the streets in Glasgow, she was my middle daughters best friend and she couldn't have came from a nicer family...She went off the rails,drugs/drink,she spends a lot of time in shop doorways because she doesn't fancy being raped or stabbed in some ****-hole... There is no simple solution to the problem,it's a ****ing mess and far from straight forward....
Thats true A lot of times The hostels etc they get offered are more dangerous than being on the street I stand by it Drug smugglers and dealers should be executed here like in singapore etc
