Probably someone like Arbër Hoxha. We’ve been linked with him recently, played under Jakirović at Dinamo Zagreb and he rated him enough to want him at Kayserispor were it not for their transfer ban.

Barry is younger and has a higher ceiling but Hoxha would be cheaper and has also played at a decent level for Dinamo Zagreb and is a full international for Albania. The wages in the HNL are significantly lower compared to the Championship so he’d probably only cost €1-1.5 million in transfer fees and €10-15K in wages.

With Barry, you’re paying an ‘English’ and ‘Premier League’ tax, including the wages. Lots of Premier League academy players are on double or even triple what lots of senior players get paid in the Dutch, Belgian, Croatian etc. leagues. Remember Harvey Vale? He was on £25,000-a-week at Chelsea.
