Tiote - This keeps popping up, any one think any truth in this?

The Times also covered it this morning. Sadly I agree that he and Collo are probably on their way.

 

It's just lazy journalism, the same old ****e with no quotes from the player, either club or even an agent. When the local media pick up on it, I might take notice as they do at least have some idea of what goes on in the club.

Can't see why Chelsea would want Tiote. They have Romeu who has been class since breaking into the team, and they also have Mikel in that position as well as McEachran coming through, plus Michael Essien will come back from injury...

 

Also, wouldn't it make more sense if it was Coloccini they were after? He's not signing a new contract as it stands and Chelsea's only backup centre back has handed in a transfer request. Anyone reckon they might have heard that a Newcastle player is close to agreeing a move to Chelsea, and assumed it was Tiote?

 

Because Ashley would pay their wages .. let alone Alex dosnt fit into our transfer policy at all, this isnt football manager mate.

 

The transfer policy doesn't apply to everything - if we could get Alex on the cheap with decent wages, he'd be worth it for the team. Plus, he can help mentor the bambinos.

I could see Tiote leaving in a big money deal, after all thats what our business plan is. Sign em cheap sell em on expensive. But £20 million is a bit low. I know goal scorers get a premium but Tiote is worth £28m easy. Another thing is there's less areas for that money to be spent on other than players. If the £35m was spent on training facilities and under soil heating and players contracts (of which Tiotes was one, so there should in theory be a surplus of 5 years wages should he go in January) Then what can another £20m go on?

 

sunday times saying his agents met chelsea last week. Just like with carroll, its the agent who drives all this, looking at getting maximum value out his client whenever he can. They are young lads an easily led by tales from their agents of european glory etc etc. Like carroll, i think he would be happy to stay at newcastle but his agent will have other ideas and will do all he can to convince him otherwise.

I'd wait to see who Chelsea sells on before predicting who/if we would sell to them. I don't think they'll be spending big money on anyone again until they sell off the players who are over the hill or not in AVB's plans.

 

If we're going to lose him I'd rather it was to one on the Manchester clubs where he'll at least win something.

Would't be surprised if Citeh came in for him.

I hope we manage to hang onto him but if he's going to go I'd wish him well.

 

I'd be really fed up if we lost Tiote or Colo, even though we've found out from experience players are replaceable, it's so annoying that every time one of our players has a run of form, we suffer all this media speculation will they wont they move to a better club.
We need to start keeping our better players for our own development and make our own club a more attrative option.
