surely they must have been on scene but then did nothing . Think with how things are these days they prefer less public actions but in this case what kind of nutjob would think it wasn't proportionate .

Admitting manslaughter helps keep it to manslaughter and not be guilty of murder. Obviously didn’t help the case here but when you’re going down for life anyway it’s probably worth the gamble.
The worst bit about the sick rapist bastard is that in 1977 he was jailed for life for raping two women in their 70s in Ipswich, but an appeal hearing changed it after Dr's said that he committed the two "was sexually frustrated due to his wife being successful and demanding." Only did just over 2 yrs inside instead WTF????
