I do think with Porto, less emphasis should be placed on the fee and more on the sell on clause. If they offered 22mill and a 20-25% sell on clause I'd probably take that.
Think we’ve had more links with Johnston from Salzburg? Also if Sugewara stays, can’t see us going for another RB as we’d also have Bree??
Yeah agree, the noise around Johnston seems louder and given we've signed someone from 2. Bundesliga, are looking at a striker from a Bundesliga club then signing a RB from the Austrian Bundesliga would also make sense and feel consistent
Rumours of Ings to Wrexham. So we could potentially be facing a front two of J-Rod and Ings. They'll score 8 against us, then be injured for the rest of the season. It is known.
Premier League clubs' 2024/25 released lists - who's set for free transfer? List of out of contract players (albeit including those who have already found new clubs). Otherwise known as Wrexham's target list.
Being linked to midfielder Bobby Clark, Liverpool academy graduate who moved to Salzburg for £10m last year to play for Pep Lijnders - now sacked
Sounds like the new Salzburg manager didn't fancy him for whatever reason and he needs a fresh start. He clearly has talent if he's come through Liverpool's academy. Could be a real bargain.
Think we’d have to shift a few players to get him as won’t be cheap. Liverpool also have a sell on clause so would be at least £15-£20 million?
Don't think he'd cost that much TBH. He was left out of their squad for the CWC and new manager hasn't given him much playing time.
Liverpool's share of a sale is 17.5% apparently, so for Salzburg to get their initial commitment back, a deal would have to start at a baseline of £11.75m
We spent around that on Shea Charles when we were last relegated. We were in a worse financial position then and he had never even played men's football, so that is definitely affordable.
Quarshie, Downs, Clark would total nearly £25m, and none of them are really likely to be first team regulars.
