Not sure Elon knows I exist, thankfully (though he is a quarter Scouse, believe it or not). Still think my points about Gooey are valid, though.
So…..apparently…. Diaz is off to Saudi Nunez may or may not be off to Napoli Konate ain’t signing an extension Elliott wants first team football Summer sales are about to start $$$
Happy to let Diaz go, think his head was turned a while back only want committed players in the squad. Nunez, I'd except a blow on a ragman's trumpet just to get him off the wage bill.
Bayern CEO Karl–Heinz Rummenigge on players complaining about the packed football calendar: “I get why they’re frustrated — but players and their agents have played a part in this. By constantly demanding higher wages, they’ve pushed clubs to chase bigger revenues. And where does that money come from? More matches. That’s why I believe it’s time for everyone involved to come together and have a calm, rational conversation about how we can bring the game — and the business behind it — back to more balanced and sensible times Does he have a point? Always been split on players moaning. 99% of population pay to go and play a game of football for fun each week. These people are being paid to do something we all wish we could do so can’t complain. However, on other hand for 30 years they have to live their life in strict way, missing out on a lot of stuff during teenage years with no guarantee that will make it. Now being asked to play for about 10 months of the year with limited breaks… However think he makes a valid point. Football has got itself into a vicious circle. Clubs want the best players and to do that have to pay big wages, how can they afford those wages? Only by playing more and more games and new tournaments or pre/post season tours. Rodri was moaning last year about number of games contributing to injuries but do wonder if any point during contract negotiations he said I’ll happily take a lower wage if I’m allowed X number of games off and time off a season? It seems like it’s past the point of no return though as salaries aren’t going down and only way clubs can continue to afford to pay those top wages is to make more money….
Does he have a point: Yes and no. Yes players earn way too much and it's a bit crazy. That said, I don't at all blame players for getting the best deal they can. That said, clubs aren't pursuing more revenue because players want higher wages... Clubs would be pursuing more revenue regardless. Clubs being able to pay higher wages is a SYMPTOM of them being richer... I don't think he wants to hear that clubs make too much money though. All in all though, I don't feel bad at how hard the players have to be pushed. It's a job they chose and for each professional footballer out there there are a thousand people who would love to trade jobs with them.
I agree with this in principle, but as a fan I don't want the players of the club I support to be pushed to the point where they can't give themselves to the competitions that I think are important because they are being worn out in yet another money-spinner.
We struggled in other comps this season, without the CWC. Who knows how it will impact players in it now, guess we’ll see in 6m. Ultimately, players are assets that the club can utilise for cash generating purposes……but Klopp is 100% correct, it will impact performances and quality.
I find it quite hard to see how some clubs will have a good time of it over the two games a week periods to come this season. This thing has extended the European season into mid July. It is in effect an extra world cup year but your entire club in involved. You are getting baked in summer heat and thr 5th July is the qf. The thing ends on 13th July. The football season starts on the 16th August. so if you give players 2 weeks holidays then you've literally 2 weeks left before the season starts. You won't get a proper session in there, just won't. So what happens come the middle of the cl group phase? Chelsea and city will have some going to get back fit. It's too much. Psg will probably use reserves in the french league to try and get by. Maybe take a.month off at the start and play kids and preseason the rest in August. Real Madrid and bayern will really struggle (imo)
