The last execution by guillotine took place in France in 1977, but actor Christopher Lee witnessed the last public execution by guillotine in France in 1937.

Lee also holds (or has held) numerous world records, including:

tallest actor in a leading role
    most screen credits,
    most films with a swordfight
the oldest performer in heavy metal
    Oldest videogame voice actor
the most connected living actor in 2009, based on a database mapping actor relationships, placing him at the center of the Hollywood universe.

On 24th June 1981 Humber Bridge opened to traffic; the bridge was the longest single-span suspension bridge for 17 years. On the same day was the last trip of the Humber ferry, MV Farringford ending the service. Video: Spare Hands https://youtu.be/lt2FS0wGyO8

Bridge would have been even bigger if the yellow bellies had been able to build their tower in the right place.

That's also the last time two lanes either side were fully open to traffic. :emoticon-0138-think

On this day in 1982, “Blade Runner” was released in theatres.

All time favourite film. Rutgur Hauer actually passed away the same year as he does in the film.
Great film and the quote one of the best ever!

i tried to buy a gtr1400 from them and they wouldnt budge at all. went to lincolnshire motors. and 8 yrs later i traded it in for the sx with them. and they gave me fantastic money for what i thought was an obsolete elephant.

im not doubting there are far better bikes than the sx on the road. ive had it 5 years and it ticks all my boxes. i arent a very demanding rider. i once spent an afternoon adjusting the suspension on my 2000 zx6r and couldnt really tell the difference. so left it on softest, for 10 years. on my sx with the missus on the back and fully laden i couldnt put the sidestand down cos the suspension was more or less bottomed out and the stand hit the floor before fully kicked forwards. it would still bob along at 3 figures and go round bends at those speeds cranked right over. i fitted a stronger spring, set up sag and all that and i couldnt tell the difference. i think my brain is more concerned about making the corner or gaps in traffic and too busy ****ting myself than thinking oh i wonder if ive dialed in enough preload etc. im prob the furthest from a connoisseur possible.

i only ever had one suzuki in the 80's and it put me off them for life. had 3 yams as a young man and thought id stick to them but couldnt find a decent r6 in the mid 2000's and a zx6r fell into my lap and its been kawasaki all the way since then. ive still got a 1975 rd350A ive owned for 20 years same model i owned as a youth and theres something about 2 strokes that turns back the clock. 15 yrs ago i used to go out in groups of 4 - 10 sometimes more but its slowly dwindled so most rides nowadays im on my tod. spend most of my time in linconshire. if you go to willy woods you might know the wealthy guy sid? big nose always had the latest fastest bike. or the gazza look alike tony jackson? btw ive never been to a barton bike night in my life. am i missing much? it always seemed to clash with winterton v city pre season

I know Sid - I think everyone at the woods knows Sid <laugh> We all like talking about our bikes but he takes it to a whole new level. I never go to bike night at the woods anymore, too many coppers about - I'll pop in occasionally for a natter, I'd call in more often if the kiosk sold decent drinks instead of dishwater.

I've had a couple kawasaki's, had a Z650B4 as my work bike, never missed a beat in 6/7 yrs - first Japanese bike was a Yamaha 350YR5, enjoyed it a lot and thought it was really fast until I traded it up for an RD400 - that was mental, scarily mental until me and a mechanic mate upgraded the brake lines and pads so I could get it to stop. That was one I wish I still had, the YR5, 400/4F1, GS1000, K3 750GSX-R - think we all have had plenty of those? I've mostly had Suzuki's though, they suit me. As for Barton Bike Night, you should go once, get there early - for me, its gotten too popular, you can't move and you can't really have a playtime anywhere near, as you would expect, plod are out in force!

Compared to you two proper bikers I’m in the 3rd division. Started out with a FS1E but it was knackered. Bought a AP50 then an X7. Survived many a dice with RD250s and LC’s. Retired then bought a CB400 Sport. Quickly followed by a Z650. Packed it in for marriage and kids. 30 years later bought a Bandit then a GSX650F. In the need for speed got an Audi TT then calmed down. Always wanted an XL250.

If you were in a jet travelling at 800mph westwards, would you just be able to step out of it?

That's like the one if the lift is crashing to the bottom and you step out just before it hits the ground...

The tongue is the only muscle in your body that's attached at one end?
