Well, if he didn't really want to be here then it's probably best that Chelsea came in. Pity though, as he's a good player. But I expect there are plenty of other options who a) we can afford and b) would be happy to come to Newcastle. We move on.

Yeah, but I'm beginning to think this window isn't going to go very well tbh. I've suddenly began to question the recruitment team since Ashworth and Staveley departed. I mean, the excuse was no funds, but they actually just publicly failed to sign Guehi, so perhaps there's more to it than once thought.

They also failed to sign Elanga last year, so twice now.

Perhaps the story that Pedro held a grudge after we pulled the plug a couple of years ago rings true. Either way we look ****ing useless. Obvious “targets”, rubbish bids, no urgency. I can easily see us starting the PL season without a single first team player signed. For some reason the club have completely gone off the idea of finding and signing more Isak, Bruno, Botman, Tonali players. We’re trying to scrimp on signing the next Harvey Barnes. It’s ****ing weird.

This London stuff is grating. I lived in London for 18 months, my fiancé is born and bred London & she couldn’t wait to get away from the place.

Great for working opportunities and getting to France etc but other then that i just didn’t see the appeal. Truly baffles me. Snobby ****s

Mate, if we don’t get any first team signings.. imagine a couple of injuries, playing away at Bayern/Barca and having to play Longstaff or Willock.

We need movement, not just a matter of want, we need it. We’ve stood still.

Have pif simply realised it's a waste of time under the rules and impending worsening of them with squad cost ratio? Where is the stadium? Where is the training ground? It's approaching years BTW. Where's the sponsorships? Where's the loans from Saudi clubs or player purchases? Why are they funding the club world Cup helping the big 6.

I'm not saying they have, but it's worth considering if the pif have gone Ashley for the time being while the apt **** is decided.

This is what I mean when I say everything is snail pace. I can’t remember the last time we had a significant update with our club (in a positive light, not Mitchell leaving etc) other than new kits.

I can’t wait for the CL, really can’t but it’s hampering the excitement a bit knowing there’s a possibility we go into it with some of the ****e we still have.

You'll get two extremist factions on all this, but I don't think it's unreasonable to question this all. I certainly am at this point.

I know it will be “wait for the new PSR cycle” which I understand like.

But I still think we’re going to get bids rejected, waste weeks on nothing. It’s like messaging a bird and not getting a reply for 3 weeks, give it up man, move on. (Like the Guehi situation)

It’ll get to deadline day, Keith will be stood outside saying “it looks like things have been left a little late, a lot of frustration here on Tyneside, Eddie Howe wanted at least 3 first team players and looks to have only managed to bring 1 in, a disappointing window for the fans”

RCB and RW is what we need, back up CF (and GK) would be a nice to have but not essential and potentially better value out there anyway. Pedro would have been a good signing but rumours about falling out with his coach and team mates and being a bit of a penalty merchant mean I won’t be losing sleep over him going to Chelsea.

The Newcastle project is also not seen the same way now. It was probably easier to sign better players, while the hype around the takeover was present. It's now common knowledge that Newcastle can't compete with the big 6 and it's just lost a little edge.

They'll sign players, but I'm thinking more like Lewin, Trafford, Elliott and Tosin

Nothing major will suddenly occur on the 1st. If people are out there thinking they'll wake up and all of a sudden Newcastle will start buying players all day they're mistaken I fear.

Many have been sold the 1st of July notion, have taken it literally and will drown us all and want to burn the club when nothing happens that day unfortunately.

London is an expensive ****hole. City centre is nice. Camden/ Ealing/ Kensington/ St Johns Wood/ Islington are nice.

    The rest? A ****ing dump

Exactly mate, don’t get me wrong totally agree there’s some nice places. But this fascination with the place is borderline ridiculous. Those types of players love the red carpet to much.

Lol there are lots of amazing places in London.

Not as good as it used to be but plenty to do and if you know the right places, not that expensive. For example, Richmond

Still think the fascination with it is over the top though. I didn’t mind living there (west London) but it wasn’t mind blowing like I expected it to be.

Newcastle isn't the worst city outside of London by a margin, but the myth that it's a **** hole nobody would want to live in is very potent.

The amount of southerners that come here and are surprised is extensive and its because they're all simply told it's grim up North.
