More nonsense. We would be crazy to let him leave now https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/west-brom-ready-transfer-move-qpr-charlie-kelman/
Like you, I would love to see him play for QPR. However, as I understand it, he only has a year left on his contract and, if he won't extend it, we would be better off to cash in now whilst he is likely to be at the peak of his value for us. We can't afford to let him run down his contract and leave for nothing in a year's time. As a loss-making club, always up against the FFP cliff edge, that would not be good business sense.
If he does talk to them do we put him on Gardening Leave? I guess it will depend if we have a replacement lined up. I'd rather start a season with a striker who might not be here next season than no striker.
https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/15005189/kwame-poku-breaks-silence-qpr-rangers/ Interesting, posh get a sell on fee a la Eze
It's only crazy if he signs an extended deal....if he doesn't and offers come in, selling him is the model that the club should now be operating. If he doesn't commit and he's away on a free at the end of the season, we'll all be moaning about why we didn't cash in, as we did with countless others.
Or let him propel us to the Prem and then throw him a big deal. Would be crazy to sell a proven goal-machine Worst case sell him in January to Leeds for £20m
I appreciate the model, but under this method Dunne would have been sold last year. It was a risk but its paid off and he's agreed a new contract.
Offer him a 1 year extension and ask him if he wants to be here and prove himself with the option of extra years afterwards, and then if he says no then sell, sell, sell
Rangers getting some serious stick for f*cking up the Poku transfer, amongst others... https://thecelticblog.com/2025/06/articles-and-features/ibrox-poku-failure-hard-questions/
Well that's a first....a club more of a basket case than us "The truly hilarious part is that this happens every year. A player gets linked, fans get excited, media lap it up, and then—****. Gone. Usually to a club with less of a transfer kitty but more competence."
It feels quite weird to read about us getting a player over a lot of other teams. I keep reading he’s a quality player, looking forward to seeing him play.
There's something wrong here. I'm getting a little excited about our prospects for next season. Sedate me please nurse.
Me too, it’s a bit weird. I’m actually looking forward to the Preston game although I’m still hunting around for my number so I can buy a ticket
A lot of other teams fans getting salty about us signing Poku, Rangers and Brum especially. Lots of accusations of inflated wages. I strongly suspect whilst yes London is a draw, but the club put together a package that Peterborough accepted, some assurances of game time and bothering to speak to him, show him the club and vision were the main factors, not just assuming he’d join. I really don’t believe the aforementioned clubs wouldn’t have offered comparable or higher wages. So QPR was sold to him as a better stepping stone in his career path.
Mostly Birmingham and they’ve signed Bright instead who I’d expect to be demanding a fair whack more. It’ll be a mix of being close to family and mates and ‘the project’ (horrific modern day woke nonsense). No chance we’ve massively outbid the mighty soon to be all-conquering Birmingham.
