I was thinking the French connection might have been the swinger. Aren’t you signing a French keeper too? All things being equal, based on last season, you’d think we’d be a marginally more attractive proposition to players. Though any advantage is usually outweighed by personal terms anyway.
Polish but based on France yeah, want Guendouzi and Lauriente as well who are both French. I think we are quite attractive to young players.
Its reported that Noah Sadiki will be next in line for us. Should be half the price. Diarra is probably a year in front of him.
Sounds like Leeds never matched Sunderlands bid. It's also rumoured to be £26 million up front too. That's a huge chunk of PSR gone.
Not really, that is a large trunk of cash gone. From Sunderlands point of view it will be a PSR cost of somewhere between £5m-£6.5m If you buy a player for £100m and he signs a contract for 5 years, it matters not one iota in respect of PSR whether you pay the whole £100m up front or pay it in instalments. From a PSR point of view, its a cost of £20m per year.
Is that right? I get amortisation when you sell the player and how it affects profit/loss at that point but isn’t it still £26 million off of this year’s budget in the accounts. That said Bellingham will be all profit.
The amortisation is for the buying club, you get a sold players fee immediately for accounts and any purchases are split over contract length.
PSR budget and cash spending budget are totally unrelated. The audited accounts will show the cost of purchasing a player spread over the length of their contract, whether the transfer fee is paid fully, paid in 2 or 3 installments etc. It is the cost shown in the audited accounts that are used for PSR purposes. This is why Chelsea were signing players on 8 year contracts as it reduced their PSR liability, until that loophole was restricted to 5 years.
Generational talent Archie Gray starts on the bench for England u21's in the European championship final. Players selected in front of him are Livramento at right back, Cresswell at centre half, Quansah at centre half, Bournemouths Alex Scott in midfield and Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest in midfield. I'd suggest that £40 million last summer was a great price.
Did a degree in Accounting and Finance at the fine establishment University of Leeds, didn't get a job though, obviously not enough of a ****. True accountant would be focused on tax avoidance anyway (my excuse)
