I have to say, taking the obligatory Leeds arrogance with a pinch of salt (how many sets of opposing fans aren't arrogant when facing Watford?) this has been a decent match thread. And unlike last year there were next to no problems with Leeds fans in the home ends either. Good luck for the rest of the season Leeds (31 March and your game against Watford in the playoffs aside).
Just checked the BBC text commentary and one of your players was booked for "unsporting behaviour" (read:time wasting) on the 3rd minute of injury time, in fact it also states that the penalty was awarded before the 3 minutes were up.
That is true, but the write up says different. I think we have to agree that we deserved to win, and you got a lucky point after being poor all game. The only one who could explain where the 3mins came from, there were 3 subs at 30 seconds each= 1:30, The ball hardly went out of play so there could not have been that much time wasting (the ref can only add time on if the ball is dead, a goal keeper can kick it around his box all he likes) the physios never came on so there werent any injuries. I dont get how he got 3 mins from that.
Watching Logi's link, it took a good 30 seconds for the penalty to be taken, and at that point the ball was already on the spot, so that doesn't account for all the protesting I'm guessing would have come from the Watford players aswell as the time it took to prepare the penalty.
Thats may be so, but where did he get the 3 mins from? Like i said, there were only 3 subs so thats 1min 30seconds. The ref can only add time on when the ball is dead. If players are knocking it back and forth in the corner or the keeper is kicking it around his box then that doesnt count. The ball barely went out of play so where he found another 1:30 i dont know. But like i say, we will never find out. But ultimately we outplayed you, and should have won it and deserved to.
That's true. I would argue against you "deserving to win", because ultimately you have to put the ball in the net and stop it going into yours. I would argue that only some ridiculous incident or refereeing howler can stop you winning a game you deserved to win.
I never saw that cos he was always the other end of the pitch lol. But if thats true then that might explain it.
But if we played better than you which you have agreed to, then surely we deserve to win? A point suggests that we were evenly matched which we weren't. But that was yesterday. Time to move on and look towards to next week.
I've just always thought there's a difference between playing well enough to win and deserving to win, you can dominate a match for 90 minutes but if you don't convert that domination into a win you don't deserve to win IMO. You're right, time to move on to the next fixture and I wish you the best of luck for the rest of the season .
We had to throw that game in order to make secret billions in the Asian illegal betting market. Sometimes you have to sacrifice one result for the greater good.
