Sunderland are making a surprise late move for Strasbourg's Senegalese star Habib Diarra.

The Black Cats are putting together a package worth up to £35 million for Diarra as a potential replacement for Jobe Bellingham.
Diarra has been wanted by Leeds United for weeks and they have been trying to buy him but offering less.

Now Sunderland have surprisingly come into the race and Diarra may be cleared to speak to them.

Insiders reveal Diarra is in Africa but being lined up for a medical on Wearside once the final figures are agreed on the transfer fee.

Wow we must really rate him to be putting together that kind of a bid.

Sunderland hopes to sign the young Strasbourg midfielder Habib Diarra
Sunderland, who will return to the Premier League next season, has arguments to succeed in signing Senegalese midfielder Habib Diarra. Negotiations are progressing with Strasbourg.
What if it was finally a Premier League club that managed to afford Habib Diarra? In contact with several European teams, the Strasbourg midfielder (21 years old, under contract with Racing until 2028) could commit to Sunderland.
The leaders of the club from the north of England have been insisting for several days to convince the Senegalese international (4 selections) to join them by presenting him with an ambitious project. Negotiations between Strasbourg and Sunderland have begun and are moving forward.

What if it was ultimately a Premier League club that managed to land Habib Diarra? Having been in contact with several European teams, the Strasbourg midfielder (21 years old, under contract with Racing until 2028) could sign with Sunderland.

Racing's young captain is coming off a successful season in Alsace (30 Ligue 1 matches, including 27 starts, scoring 5 goals), interrupted only slightly by an ankle injury that sidelined him in March. The Black Cats, managed by Régis Le Bris, will return to the Premier League next season, eight years after leaving it.
