My 5, based on those who have done it before. 1. Bowie. I still watch his 2000 set regularly. Truly brilliant. 2. McCartney. Another belter that was. Uplifting. 3. Portishead. A fav of mine. Dummies one of the greatest albums. Class live too. 4. Metallica. Bring some noise. They nailed it when they headlined. 5. Stevie Wonder. Legend.
Prodigy should be wild, I’ve never got to see them and always seemed to fall when I was off or I had a match to go to. Rod Stewart is totally overplaying his part and obviously wants to be the headline act. All this stuff about it costing him a fortune, and having to fly people in, is becoming annoying … … you’re the teatime nostalgia act, just get on with it.
Off at a tangent , but I remember back in the early 1960's the Redcar Jazz and blues scene was ahead of the game, and had a yearly festival that included amongst others ,Cyril Davies & His Rhythm & Blues Allstars, Long John Baldry, The Rolling Stones, and Rod the Mod Stewart, just wondering if anybody on here went to any of these festivals , the nearest I got was a weekend all nighter at a jazz and blues club near Middleton St George, quite an eye opener it was to a young Clocky. .
Hijacked by champagne socialists a good few years ago, Palestine flags will be flown and the pompous pricks on the stage will be lecturing the audience with their ideologist ways to end the wars etc etc If they stuck to the music it would be far better
the doors jimi hendrix rush led zep pink floyd and a special one-off to end it...grace slick doing white rabbit (woodstock version)
Saw Nile Rodger’s at Lattitude last year. Would have been great if he didn’t constantly bang on about his career through the set.
Woodsi Woodsies looks good - Think I’d be spending a lot of time there but will no doubt get very limited BBC coverage.
Slim pickings when it comes to the artists that are performing this year, thats just on my taste obviously. But thats not what Glasto is all about. Been three times and wandering around the various areas and going to see unknown acts on the random stages is one of the best bits, you never know what you may find.
1970's the year! Jefferson Airplane,Pink Floyd and Led Zepp at the Bath Festival ( forerunner to Glastonbury),which I think was the June and The Doors,Hendrix at IoW in August, iirc. Dont remember Rush.
rush were never really a 'festival band' which was a shame...could really take just about any fest from late 60's through the 70's and it would be good. these days i see them headlined by 'miss 7ve coolio expr3ss' and that is enough to end me.
I'm too old now to jump around in a farmers field, with several hundred thousand others, for 4 days anyway..... TV for me these days!
Great mate, thanks for posting. I had a great time there, loved the music....the weather was a bit of a spoiler though!
