"the most significant commercial agreement in the Club’s history" I guess it was always going to be true considering the way finances have moved on, but nice to read.
Cam, do you know if the kit has the W in gold or more monochrome? I feel like the gold might be a bit jarring?
The kits I saw had the old sponsor on them so I'm not sure. The away one is white though, seen on the leak
As part of the most significant commercial agreement in the Club’s history, the leading sports betting and online casino operator also become the Club’s Front-Of-Shirt partner and exclusive Asian Betting Partner. W88 has partnered with numerous Premier League Clubs in recent years, including Aston Villa, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Activating outside the United Kingdom, the agreement will enable W88 to take advantage of the Club’s global reach, which will include their branding appearing on all playing and adult replica home, away, and third shirts throughout the 2025-26 season. So they have found a loophole to use them basically
What loophole? I thought betting sponsors were still allowed for this season, but this being the last season.
They aren't licensed in the UK so many thought we would get in trouble using them. The exclusive asian betting partner and using it to further our 'global reach' I think it's wording it as if we have found away to get around that
Not happy with it. Gambling sponsors as a whole I don’t like. But ones not licensed in the UK. I’m sure the club will see financial benefit, morally, questionable.
Aye I hate gambling sponsors and the industry as a whole. But I've kinda just accepted it for what it is and at least its only one season.
Honestly can't say it's ever bothered me because it's been a thing for so long, they simply offer way more money so from a business sense it would be daft to say no. Hence the 'most significant commercial agreement in the Club’s history,' part. But they get banned from next season so we will be finding a new sponsor if we stay up i'd imagine
What are morally acceptable potential sponsors though really? People loved our Vaux and Lambtons both beer people would twist about that Tech companies? Car manufacturers? a morally corrupt airline? End up with Sunderland's answer to spud bros? Really difficult one to get right both morally and financially
