Yet Selles career hasn't been harmed one bit by Acun sacking him, in fact it's probably been a break, just like the last decent manager we had.

Hull City are firmly in the race to sign both Lewis O'Brien and Louie Barry from Premier League opposition, while they remain keen to bring in striker Oli McBurnie.

Talks have been underway with Nottingham Forest over a move for O'Brien for a number of weeks, as revealed by Hull Live, but the financial package required to get the deal done remains a stumbling block.

City are in discussions with Forest over both a loan and permanent deal for the 26-year-old midfielder, who has a contract at the City Ground until next summer, though suggestions of a £5m deal are thought to be wide of the mark according to sources involved in negotiations.

O'Brien is believed to be keen on moving to the Tigers, which would also enable him to be closer to his West Yorkshire home, but he is not the only option the club have in that area of the pitch. City are believed to have a player on their radar based in Europe who is also in discussions and could arrive instead, with owner Acun Ilicali and head coach Sergej Jakirovic heavily involved in those talks.

City are also having talks with Aston Villa over a move for Louie Barry, which would see the 22-year-old former Barcelona starlet return permanently.

Villa are understood to be open to selling the playmaker, who joined City on loan in January before picking up a serious knee injury which effectively ended his campaign in just his fourth appearance.

Relations between the two clubs remain strong and discussions are ongoing over that deal, which could happen quickly given Villa's need to bring in revenue ahead of submitting their accounts prior to Monday's deadline.

Barry is one of three options the club are looking at, with a permanent and loan alternative also being considered by the Tigers. The prospect of signing Sutton Coldfield-born Barry permanently does appeal to the club, given what they believe is a high potential for a player who has impressed at League One level with Stockport County, but remains unproven in the Championship.

City have so far signed three players ahead of Monday's full return to pre-season training with new head Sergej Jakirovic. Reda Laalaoui, goalkeeper Dillon Phillips and Nigerian international Semi Ajayi have arrived.

The Tigers expect to sign as many as eight new players before the window closes, though there's a desire to have much of that work completed before the season starts at Coventry City on August 9.

They'd all rotate no doubt, and there's bound to be injuries, especially those two with muscle injuries after being out so long.

It would be great to have actual depth on the wings of players where it's their natural position!

I hope those two come back fully. I think back to players whose career with us nosedived after a bad injury.

Same with Zambrano, I think a lot of people are overestimating the impact Millar and Belloumi will have when they return. They’ve both had serious knee injuries and they won’t be playing two full games every week straight away. Millar also flattered to deceive in quite a few games and his end product left a lot to be desired at times. Having two decent wingers at least for each side is necessary.

Been exhausted recently and have just been playing catch up on here, which felt like the forum equivalent of trudging through a field full of thick, stodgy horse ****. Some of us are determined to create some smoke so they can pretend there's a fire.

Zambrano - very quickly looked the part back at the time. Is an exciting prospect that we wouldn't be in with a sniff for if it weren't for the ban situation.

Joseph - didn't score, during a lengthy run where we couldn't buy chances, let alone goals. Never hid from it though, chased down everything and tried to get on the ball in good positions despite people getting on his back and everyone else around him playing like ****. Someone heard we paid 4 million so it must be true.

O'Brien - we won't be paying 5 million. Some random says we've bid that though, so it must be true. I've not checked but I imagine some of the people who slag off 'foreign gambles' are also the ones slagging off this potential transfer. He'd improve our midfield. Simple.

Can we not at least try and get behind the club ahead of next season? Can we stop grinding axes at every ****ing opportunity and just see what happens next?

We're getting business done a lot earlier this summer. I don't think we have as much dead wood as people make out. Last season we ended up having to play what was essentially a second string team in multiple positions. It looks like we're trying to make the right kinds of signings to form a solid squad. It seems like we're looking to do maximum half the amount of business this summer, so churn should be a lot less. All of these things are very big steps in the right direction.

Barry can play centrally as well as wide. He’d be a superb purchase.

Hit the nail on the head with the word “settled”. It frustrates me the amount of loans we do, because as you say, it’ll never be a settled squad in and out each season. I understand that loans are part of the game when in the Championship, but I think we take it to the extreme.

Everyone seems to lump Miller and Belloumi together when talking about the quality of our wingers, but for me, Belloumi's in a different league.

I saw a video on twitter the other day of his highlights from last season, I'd forgotten how good he looked.

What exactly do you mean when you say 'Can we not at least try and get behind the Club ahead of next season'?...What does that even mean?

Do you just want or expect posters to all conform to the one opinion(yours)?

Not seen it been mentioned anywhere yet, either on here or on other social media, but I’ve been told that we’re interested in Amir Hadžiahmetović from Beşiktaş.
