And yet somehow we're going bust. Acun can't afford to pay the wages, end of season award ceremony cancelled, fire sale of players and we can't afford to buy any others.
Look at his playing profile. He's been permanently signed to 3 clubs and had 10 loans in about 7 years. He's never made 50 appearances for any side (unless you include Boro over 2 separate loans). He had a good loan spell at Boro the first time round and on the back of that Luton paid 5 million for him. 6 months later they palmed him off to us on loan with an obligation to buy at 4 million. Within a year we were playing 3 other non-left backs instead of him and loaning him out ourselves. He's not up to the job. I don't know what people expect to change.
Which begs the question... Why would any sane Club pay £4 million for him and reward him so handsomely? Madness,Madness, they call it Madness!!
I guess you could argue that Luton were duped as well, but they had the sense to offload him after 6 months for a million pound loss. They must have been rubbing their hands together with glee when we came aknocking.
Not the first club to buy / sell a melon, that's life, but immensely frustrating. What bugs me more is that we made massive progress in the first 12 months under Rosenior, and a decision was then made to roll the dice in instant promotion, strategically that decision was huge mistake. I hope the club have learnt from that.
Surely the question has to be ... 'is he any better than Alzate for Puerta'.... if the answer is no then it answers itself.
Still only 26, £5m questionable anyone might say with only a year left on his Florists contract, personally if we can get him onboard and that's the fee to make it happen, good business in my book and a player who's more than capable of helping us move up the table.
Exactly. He’s a decent box-to-box midfielder at this level but nothing more. He’s not some young talent with high potential either. Most people are aware of his abilities and they’re not worth £5 million.
Forest paid £10m for him a few years back. Also £5m might just be a final figure, the way fees are reported is so mixed anyway. We had Baz saying we were paying like £2m for Matazo and others saying it was like £3.5m. Would always take with a pinch of salt
