Konate is class (injuries notwithstanding) but nobody is paying £70m for a CB with a year left on his contract. Our only ploy is to threaten him with the reserves in World Cup year. I have a feeling we'll end up accepting @ £15m in Jan.
Just not the way club works - especially as we don’t know the reason why. It sounds like they want to negotiate just doing so over wage so there is a desire for him to stay on his side. Not like just refusing to and holding out to leave. All well and good saying just freeze them out but doesn’t work for squad morale - especially as it’s such a huge thing at club and Konate seems big personality - but also may out off potential signings that this is how treated and a bad look.
Exactly, this narrative is fantasy and also cutting off your nose to spite your face springs to mind. This is one of the best CB's around (who forms one of the best partnerships around). It's not Raheem Sterling.
Has Zubimendi signed for Arsenal yet? Just read a piece saying that he posted a picture of himself on a beach in San Sebastian (on the day that it was being reported that he was in London for a medical) with a message along the lines of don't believe everything you hear, and something about still having options. It's those mountains isn't it?
That guy seems a nightmare. If he does sign then I imagine he’ll be back in Spain within 2 years. Add what you’ve said alongside fact Arsenal are now interested in Nosgard from Brentford who plays in similar role and seems like might be issues with it.
Napoli only wants to pay £40m for Darwin Nunez, while Saudi club wants to pay significantly over that .Nunez also wants to go to Napoli.
Not the way the club USED to work. Let me be clear, I am surprised at lfc willingness to go made with cash this summer and pay big wages We all have to adjust what we might think the club will do. Imo we should be tougher in these situations
I'm wondering what Klopp is thinking, if he's paying any attention that is. The big spend with him could have got us a couple more titles.
Sorry, I didn't word that properly. I meant if the money had been available to Klopp in his second season (or third or fourth....) with us. He did a great job but thinking what could have been if he'd had further funds to invest.
40m at end of the season after they have got a loan out of him with inserted must buy clause. This would work ideally.
Not sure. Think Klopp was super loyal to his current players and said on many occasions that it’s hard to replace anyone in squad as all such quality… Seems like that’s where him and Edwards and team fell out as it seems like Edwards wanted more ins and outs where as Klopp was happy to keep players - maybe in some situations a year too long in fab and Hendo for example. Neither right or wrong though. Money was there if wanted as shown by bids for caicedo etc
This^^^^ He's a miserable jock **** that never has a good word to say about anything. Can't stand him
I think you're right on a couple of counts there. Maybe Klopp's loyalty could have been a bit of stubbornness as well. Oh and I'd forgotten about Caicedo.
Say we are there in the 19/20 summer. The club borrows 300mil to cover covid. Klopp does what with his money? Jota 45mil Thiago 20odd Tsimiaks for 12. Now he goes into the season with lovern gone and 3 cbs. Why? Moeny or hubris? Who knows. We do know it went badly due to cb injuries and thaigo injuries. We do know thry go to cl final and 2nd on the last day of season in a near quad. I just could not say if klopp would or would not have spent if given even more. I just don't know and only he knows.
