Absolutely we’d have priority positions in an ideal world, but looks like the club are seeing possibilities and grabbing them. Bar Enzo, is there anyone we can absolutely hang our hats on for PL? As such, we need improve everywhere and the order isn’t as important as the quality of the upgrades. A keeper is a prime example, they can individually win you points whereas a winger still needs support to gain assists. If the club are thinking overhaul, and we can retain the likes of Mayenda and they can develop further, that’s a tasty recipe.
There's only a few players i'd be comfortable to see starting in the XI next season, rest onto the bench for depth imo. I'd like to see maybe Ballard, Hume, Cirkin(Maybe), Enzo, Neil, Mayenda stay in the first XI
That sort of gets to the heart of my contention. If we start the season with Luke O'Nien as our starting centre back, but we signed two new full backs so Hume and Cirkin are on the bench, for me that's a head scratcher and that isn't because I don't think we need fullbacks, it's because there are some areas of the team that feel more urgent than others. Again, these are all opinions but our money is finite and all I'm doing here is showing a little bit of concern in that direction, which considering the general consensus on here, should be welcome introspection.
Yeah my list be very similar. No maybe for Cirks for me I’m convinced he steps up. The concern with Cirks is always a knock, not ability, and it takes him few weeks to get back on his game when he comes back. It’s another prime example though, I’m a huge Cirks fan and always have been, but sentiment goes clean out the window if we can grab Merlin who is 2 levels up.
Yeah its been a productive debate I feel, its exciting to be able to consider so many ways the club can operate over the next couple months to maximise our chances to stay in the league. In my head I would want a backup to hume and then a senior to Cirkin, winger on each side feels a priority, 2 centre halves, apparently a keeper, AM, DM and then a striker. Its a lot of players but if we can find similar value to Bulka (a top 3 ligue un keeper for an alleged 15m) then fingers crossed we can find even better value outside the major leagues too. (side note its been refreshing for someone with a differing opinion to also enjoy the discussion and not get pissy)
Got to think as well, we will have against and DOF in the clubs ear constantly now we are PL. There’s likely players we haven’t targeted being presented and some will be considered. I could see this being case with Bulka. There’s also talk that the new DOF fell out with Roma in part due to handling of Svilar, the keeper. Bulka could easily have been a target if his for Roma, and as a club we’ve done a pivot as there’s real value in the upgrade.
https://t.co/yZslciCa0i Marcin Bulka will leave Nice one year before the end of his contract, it's almost certain. It remains to be seen in which direction the Polish goalkeeper, who arrived on the Côte d'Azur in 2021, will take. As mentioned on the Twitter account of journalist Fabrizio Romano, the latest contender is called Sunderland, freshly promoted to the Premier League and coached by Frenchman Régis Le Bris. The club from the north of England recently made contact with the player trained at Chelsea, who remains on a half-hearted season with the Aiglons. The 25-year-old goalkeeper, who had refused to extend his contract at the beginning of last season, had already received solicitations from Galatasaray, who will play in the Champions League and would be ready to access the Gym's claims, a sum close to €20 million. But the player was not excited about the idea of going to play in the Bosphorus. The Pole was also not seduced by the idea of joining Leeds, another promoted to the Premier League, who took information about the native of Plock. And which was also cooled by the amount requested.
It's all good banter and we're all Sunderland fans after all, it was 5-on-1 for a moment there and it was getting a bit manic, if i missed a couple of quotes I apologise, I didn't know who to reply to first and then more notifications were coming in.
Yeah it gets a bid mad whenever you say something even slightly against the grain haha, we all just want the best for the club and its good fun to speculate how far the club will push to stay up.
Totally mate, just painfully embarrassing when posters make it personal. We are all just chatting ****e about football.
I think we all need to enjoy the ride and trust the club to deliver can’t even begin to second guess the plans it’s gona be a good ride
None of that contradicts what I was saying tbh. Already took it into account. We get £10m annual losses from our champ seasons plus £40m losses from our prem one. Yes we probably made a profit in 24/25 (won't be £40m as fishflaps says, though - more like £25m since we 'naturally' ran at a circa £10m loss). Give or take, that would mean an allowable loss of around £60m to keep us inside the £60m or so 3 year rolling limit. However, we don't want to go to the maximum next season, as this may then reduces our allowable loss for the following season. It would certainly clobber us if we make it to season three, though, once the profit of 24/25 drops out of the calc.
