Yesterday (against Peterborough) it came as a surprise that Peterborough were defensively organised, or our attackers were poor. Nugent and Beckford were not that great yesterday, nor were most of our attackers, but we have looked good in our previous two home matches before yesterday, so I do not see any reason for panic, just in the summer we NEED to invest in a winger, I would like to see that winger be Jimmy Kebe.

    My ratings for Leicester yesterday:

    Schmeichel 7
    Peltier 6
    Bamba 6
    St Ledger 8
    Konchesky 6
    Dyer 5
    Wellens 5
    King 6
    Gallagher 6
    Nugent 6
    Beckford 6

    Danns 4
    Schlupp N/A
    Howard N/A

Too many players played well below their potential yesterday.

Peltier, Bamba, SSL, Wellens, King, Gallagher, Beckford and Nugent all played poor

You're probably right, just a day when things just didn't happen for us - However, a word of warning for those that have under-performed, Pearson will not accept many days such as yesterday as a necessary part of the teams development in the same way Sven did

we have had far too many off days this season. i feel we are nothing more than a mediocre championship side at best at the min.

wellens has a shocker last wk at hull, and this wk he is cap?? i just dont get it, apart from slotting in beckford when he hit the post, he did very little again this wk. i for one am hoping his days are numbered, he's too slow, generally only passes sideways or backwards, and apart from the odd one, most of his passing is woeful.never wants to shoot, and usually ends up dithering infront of goal until he is pressured into either losing the ball, or more likely, delivering yet anothe wayward pass.

king has been anonymous for most of the season, and gallagher is far too lighweight for my liking, scores the odd goal, and is prob the best taker of free kicks etc that we have, but that only goes to show how bloody poor we are at them. apart from the lord dyer, there is no pace or creativity in midfield, and i believe that dept needs a complete shake up, our strikers will never score many if their not getting any decent service.

i started the season with alot of hope and optomism, but we seem to have assembled a squad of overpaid over hyped players, that either cannot, or will not perform to their supposed ability. it could be interesting in jan, to see who is offloaded, and who is brought in, but either way they need to get their fingers out if anything better than mid table is to be achieved................

If you could be bothered to read then I think you'll find that those sentiments are shared with every Leicester fan.

The fact we've not hit top gear (by a long shot) and are still 9th tells you a lot though.

well done, this is a very good first step. obviously you could do well in the janaury TM but first you need to be able to accept that the players you currently have are not good enough

and regardless of what Andy King's crown jewells says, I have not seen any evidence to suggest that every leicester fan shows the same views

To be fair, lots of Leicester fans have made the same point.

The problem is that 2 or 3 people who post a lot seem to undermine the sensible majority (this happens on all boards).

Leicester have spent a lot of money on players who are not earning their corn at present.

NP will be shipping some out and building for next season. This doesn't mean that Leicester won't make the play-offs but you have to look a bit more long term for success.

Leicester now have: owners with serious financial power, a very good manager and the foundations of a good squad.

I'd suggest that they don't try to rush things. NP took over a year to sort us out. We had a similar squad to yours when we came down from the Prem. Lots of players being paid well and not producing the goods.

In the long term Leicester will be more than fine.

Great post from my near neighbour and I think he is spot on in his summing up of our season so far. I may get shot down for this but I would like to see a Fernandes and Johnson centre midfield with Scluup and Nugent up front let's see some bloody creativity....

I'll get my gun <laugh> i doubt NP will change that many players in 1 game, im a bit concerned with him chosing the old guard though, would like to see Danns and Fernandes in, Abe offers us very little in creativity, but great deep lying defender for those tougher games.

Thanks Horsham, much appreciated, an actual view into the future, rather than the regular "haha you failed to win last saturday" people.

I think we're going to be like the Man City of this league ... no, don't stop reading and start flaming ... read on ...

A substantial boost in finances [Check]
    Transfers galore [Check]
    Optimism [Check]
    Instant success target [Check]
    Hirings and Firings [Check]

Man City are 3 seasons down the line since they were bought and had their unlimited bank account, they have finished 10th, 5th, 3rd and this year they are first (atm).
Since the start of the season, i have been relating this to us, you can buy whoever you like, but it isn't going to guarantee you instant success, i was hoping for a top 6 finish, and i still am this year.

I think we have the right manager now, hes been in this league for 3 seasons, lets just hope that he gets the kind of players he can get the best out of in January.

We have some very good players but some poor ones aswell

Players like Oakley, Vassell, Ball, Johnson, Moussa, Abe, Danns all need to be moved on.

We need a creative midfielder to come in as no matter what King and Wellens will start next week. Gallagher only player in the whole club who can take a set piece. There is no decent back up for Nugent and Beckford to help keep them on their toes. Schlupp isnt ready yet and Howard isnt suited to us anymore and is only good as a last resort. We have no pace down the wings except Dyer and his end product isnt good enough. I dont rate Danns or Michael Johnson. The defence is fine and doesnt need any changing. And we need to fight hard to keep hold of Kasper

Firstly, I don't think we should get carried away or too dis-heartened with 1 draw in a game in which we played well enough to win. The worry is though is that the gap is widening between us and 6th place. I think I'm right in saying that we're the same distance off the play-offs now as we were this time last season so there is a lot of work still to do. The crucial thing will be whether we sign well in January because last season we didn't do that and so didn't really sustain a challenge.

With Walsh now at the club though, I'd be more confident going into this window than I was last season. I think definitely a winger needs to come in and, if Johnson can't get himself fit, another creative midfielder of his type who can run a game. Wellens should be doing this but he hasn't performed this season and maybe someone to just give him a kick up the backside and make him up his performance too.

By no means are we out of this play-off race, but if we want to get there, we must be more consistent and be more ugly and grind out games like Saturday because good teams will always find a way to win. We can't seem to do that right now.

Football is all about opinions - somebody above mentioned Abe's potential value - and I'd agree with that - in the right formation him playing a holding role just in front of the defnce would be excellent - he has great technique, great wilingness and lots of energy - Michael Johnson needs games and fitness, but if he is able to recapture the form he was showing at Man City before his injuries there is no doubt that he would be amongst the most talented midfielders in this league. Danns has disappointed and can't say i've seen enough of Moussa to make a judgement. Oakley and vassell have perhaps come to the end of their careers at this level. For Ball see Johnson.

Johnson looked very good when he broke through. He doesnt seem mobile enough for the championship. The problem with Yuki is he is too easily bullied
