I know he's still quite popular but today demonstrated what he does far too often. He is atrocious at tackling and while some may interpret it as "not afraid to get stuck in" I personally think he's not good enough for this league.

His set pieces are decent, if inconsistent, and he is quite versatile but he offers little else. He's now earned himself another 3 game ban through another reckless tackle and by that time we should have Barton, Ben Arfa, Gosling and Ireland back. Also, Steven Taylor looked better on the right wing today. I think in the summer when we look to strengthen there'll be no place for him, not even as backup.

Another point is that Pardew has barely mentioned him coming back from injury, he usually likes to big players up if they're returning but I get the impression Pardew thinks Raylor is surplus to requirements.

I can't say I'd miss him if he goes, even last season I was thinking he just doesn't look prem quality.

    Anyone agree?

I agree, but still feel sorry for him barley got his chance and injuries, but to go on two footed when you are given the chance is idiotic..

What's he worth? I'd be surprised if we got over £1.5million for him.

I think our midfield has got a lot better and there's no place for him really...
Barton, Ireland, Tiote, Nolan, Guthrie, Gosling, Jonas, HBA ... are all better than him in my books, and 8 midfielders should be enough, so yeah I wouldn't mind seeing him leave. Nothing against the guy personally and think he good do a good job at Championship level, but not Premier League any more.

If I'm being honest I reckon he's not even good enough for lower prem teams. Champ at best for me. Like others have mentioned I've got nowt against the fella, he's just served his purpose.

I reckon we could get that for him yeah, most likely to a championship team?

But it's still a million or so extra, and his wages off our books.

As Hatem Is A Geordie says 8 midfielders is enough. Add in Vuckic, Inman and other hopefuls from the academy we really don't need him. Fully expect his to leave in the summer and if he plays again this season it will be an act of desperation on Pardew's part due to and injury crisis in midfield or at right back.

Well he did OK in the first half and could've had a decent second if it wasn't for his reckless and stupid tackle! totally unavoidable and unnecessary.

Unfortunately now he's lost his chance to shine with a three match ban and a place on the bench(barely) for the rest of the season(Gosling, Ben Arfa, Ireland, Guti and Barton are all ahead of him in the pecking order). In the summer I think it's the best option to part ways, maybe get a couple of mil out of him(1.5m sounds 'bout right) and with LuaLua, Ferguson and a potential new signing(Kranjcar/Barnetta) in the summer then he'll not be needed at all.

Mmm.. think we can get better in the summer, no offence but Gradel just looks like another Routledge.

Yeah but if Routledge stays at QPR then he's a decent replacement, especially if we get Smithy's wages off our books at the same time.
I think he's an excellent little player with great potential, he's only 23 after all. An all out winger, which we need, and wouldn't be expensive/demand high wages.

Gradel looks good but nowt amazing, I do like the looks of Connor Whickham and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain though :)

EDIT: As forwards obviously! The point being some league players look alright!

Whickham definitely! Don't think we'll get him though.

Ronald Vargas, Stud-man and Holden(if we don't get Ireland) would be my personal ones.

Ireland if his rediscovers City form. Holden if not.
Sturridge, Krancjar too. I'd still like Gradel for back up. We need wingers. I'd also still take Elmander on a free. Not as first choice though, obviously.

    That's my list.
Oh, and LB cover. Not sure who though.

He is literally a perch out of water when he's on the pitch for us.
