What's that about Bob, I didn't hear about this. I know he was put up for a knighthood by Margaret Thatcher, she regularly had him round at Christmas and she was on 'Jim'll Fix It' ... ... but I didn't know he'd met Starmer. I've always thought he was shagging Thatcher tbh. please log in to view this image
I once started reading a book about him but it was too sick to get through. Part of what I did read was how he’d go into the mortuary, at Leeds General Hospital, and tell the attendants he’d like a few private moments ‘to pray’. When they returned it was obvious the bodies had been disturbed but no one dared say anything. He was big buddies with the local police and would have them round for parties. He was also friends with politicians, judiciary and the royal family … … really makes you wonder who else knew or was involved.
Some of it was cover up because people knew and didn't want the embarrassment of the truth coming out, the "cloak of respectability" as my dad used to say. He gets involved with something then when what he is comes out, people cover up to limit the damage to themselves/the institution. But because he's been seen involved with person/charity X, person/charity Y are happy for him to be involved, despite the rumours, because they'll think "there mustn't be anything in it because person/charity X wouldn't be involved if there was anything wrong". Then the truth comes out and rather than risk the reputational damage, they cover up. Then person/charity Z get involved. Rinse and repeat. It also made him look more powerful and connected than he really was, but few ordinary people would risk taking the chance exposing him. Then cover ups from certain bodies didn't help. West Yorkshire police in particular sat on requests from other forces to investigate complaints against him. The BBC covered up for its own vested interests and because of that covered up for others, like Rolf Harris and Stuart Hall.
He spent 3 or 4 days alone with his mother’s body after she died. Some religious thing apparently. It always makes my skin crawl thinking about what he might actually have been up to.
