Miliband plots 15% net zero tax on gas bills

Remember that £300 off your energy bills? You might get it in July if your energy bill is currently £4,300 as Ofgem have announced the energy price cap between 1st July and 30th September to be a 6.9% reduction on the April to June cap.

Enjoy it while you can as Ed Milipede wants more money for his Net Zero lunacy and Rachel from Accounts won’t give him it.

The idea is simple: move the current green levy on electricity (which 100% of people have) to gas (which 80% of people have). Pensioners and households on benefits would get subsidised so it would be everyone else who would see green levies on their gas bill and as there are less people paying they would have to pay 12.5% more.

The theory behind this lunacy is that people would then switch from using gas to getting an electric heat pump (cost c. £13,000), the Net Zero technology that has proven to be a hard sell because it does not work for a huge proportion of people and the price is a little prohibitive.

The Renewables Obligation was introduced in 2002 by the Blair/Brown New Labour government. It required electricity suppliers to get part of their supply from Renewables or they got fined. The Renewable Obligations Certificates (ROC) scheme was supposed to eventually fall to zero once targets were met so that costs passed on to consumers would end. It also gave generous subsidies to the Renewables industry. The 2009 EU Renewables Directive saw this cost limitation stopped so that there would be unlimited subsidies.

So what has happened to Renewable subsidies since 2002 and 2009?

    CCQ_Image_1.jpg

And how long is the consumer going to have to keep picking up the tab for this?

    CCQ_Image_2.jpg
Subsidy currently costs £200 per MWh, so it is difficult to see how anybody can claim that Renewables are getting cheaper. That £300 off your energy bills promised by Ed Miliband is never going to happen. The stagnation of British industry under high energy costs and the “cost of living crisis” look set to continue.

When your energy supplier offers you a “green tariff” of 100% renewable energy it is a lie. The power cables from your house to the local substation and from the local substation to the energy source are all part of the National Grid. All the electricity is shared by all the companies selling it to consumers. The only way you can have 100% renewable energy is to go off grid and have a wind turbine in your garden and/or solar panels on your roof. When the wind does not blow and the sun does not shine, you need batteries or candles.

Don't forget the good old Carbon Offset. Carry on burning your way through fossil fuels just as long as you plant some trees. There are companies that will offer to plant forests for you at a very tidy sum which you can then use to offset your carbon footprint. I may be an old cynic but this has all the hallmarks of a Lustig* scam where you can sell the same tree to an endless supply of suckers and nobody is any the wiser.

*Victor Lustig - the con man who became famous for selling the Eiffel Tower twice while posing as a government minister.

Not sure I understand what your gender has to do with it but basically, those who profit from fossil fuels want you to believe that it is too expensive to move away from fossil fuels and the only option is to stay with fossil fuels because it is cheaper for everyone. But the whole world is spending much more money on susbidising fossil fuels than on trying to move to more sustainable alternatives. So the argument isn't one - its a fallacy designed to keep the rich and powerful exactly that - rich and powerful.

They are even running stories in the Garuniad now about the doomed rush to Net Zero:

Obviously the same people that are in charge of security at RAF Brize Norton are protecting Miliband’s Chinese bought wind turbines. I guess those are not highly paid jobs putting money in people’s pockets.

Miliband lifted the Tory ban on large onshore windfarms in his desperation to make Britain a “Clean Energy Superpower”. It is a little bit more difficult to steal the copper cabling from the offshore wind farms...

It is looking like a bad news day for Miliband as the Telegraph reports Ed Miliband’s £8bn pet project is sliding into irrelevance.

The boss of Miliband’s quango Great British Energy (GBE), Juergen Maier (formerly boss of Siemens UK), could not explain to Sky News where he was going to invest his £8bn budget. Of course, some of his £8bn budget got taken away by Rachel from Accounts to pay for Sizewell C, which he could not have invested in because nuclear is not classed as renewable.

In Hull, there is a wind turbine factory run by a German engineering company. How about investing some of the money there so that the profits can go back to the parent company in Germany while providing highly paid jobs putting money in people’s pockets?

GBE is supposed to be creating thousands of highly paid jobs putting money in people’s pockets and lowering their energy bills but it cannot even find a building for its headquarters in Aberdeen. There must be a portacabin on the docks somewhere for a German bloke and his blonde secretary. When the solar panels on the roof stop charging the batteries and the lights go out, I am sure he can think of something to do...

Once the DWP have decided that you are fit to work and can no longer claim benefits for being a D.E.I. Jock, you will have to go and get a job from the bloke in the portacabin on Aberdeen docks.

For years and years there has been this nice little number going where various companies drill for oil and gas in the North Sea. When the oil and gas comes ashore, the government takes some of the profit in taxes. When there is no oil and gas left on a particular drilling site, the company then hands it over to another company to clean up and claims the cost back from the government as a tax write off. So the taxpayer is subsidising the oil and gas industry so that the companies can keep making a profit instead of spending some of it cleaning up after themselves. I own shares in an American company that buys up old sites in the USA and makes a killing cleaning them up.

What we are all more familiar with is the billions of pounds of taxpayers’ money being given to Net Zero projects, most of which will end up being scrapped as they are doing experimental stuff that ends up not working or is financially not viable (carbon capture, battery storage, dimming the sun, etc.). And the billions being spent on wind turbines and solar panels that do not work if the wind is not blowing and the sun is not shining; paying them to switch them off when they are producing more energy than the system can handle because somebody did not think of spending billions on the grid network first so that it could handle the energy. Net Zero grifters like Dale Vince are getting properly made up at the taxpayers’ expense and then moaning that energy prices are not coming down because they are calculated based on the price of gas – used to produce energy as a back-up to the Net Zero stuff.

<doh> It seems that you can describe yourself as a “handicapped lesbian ****tah that identifies as a ******ed autistic lefty loony twiglet”, which suggests some level of self awareness, but not understand when somebody replies sarcastically to that description.

I have no relationship with Cher but I thought two paragraphs explaining how we get ripped off on subsidies for fossil fuels and Net Zero would help explain the graph.

Can’t be arsed trying to debate anything with you ignorant pricks.

Ask yourself this though - you follow their narrative but what good will it do you? None. You’ll be ****ed seven sheets to the wind just like the rest of us. Sunshine on Leith will give you skin cancer one day and anilingus on Donald’s rusty hole will turn your soul orange.
