Been touting this lad for 2+ years. Honestly the type of signing which would make me think we can challenge for the top prizes in the game. Tino-Scalvini-Botman-Hall is a back line that could lead you to many many titles/cups and has 10 years in it! Also, would be really interesting who replaces Trippier-Schar-Burn-Target as they leave over the next few years because it’ll take some serious top end talent to improve upon the younger group above.
Yeah, this would be an exciting signing. Atalanta would be reluctant sellers though, so won't be cheap. Hopefully a transfer rumour with truth in it and the recent ACL and shoulder injuries put off the Chelsea's of the world.
I don't think pace is his standout feature, but he's probably faster than what we're used to. He's just a top quality CB.
The two big injuries he's had would be the concern, but also the only reason we'd be in with a chance. Gives us the opportunity to strike whilst other clubs are hesitant. Higher risk, potentially greater rewards.
If we could get Scalvini, Elanga (or another RW) and even potentially Trafford I'd be happy with that as long as we didn't lose any of the starting XI and then the second XI without replacement's. If you can get those 2 for around £100m that'd be good business.
ACL is way different now, players tend to come back as strong if not stronger, not like the days when Shearer did his. The shoulder injury - the only other major one - clearly is a freak accident, we had Burn and Pope out for a while with similar. The rest are no more niggles than anybody gets - I'd be more concerned if it's month on month like Wilson or Willock. The guy's an absolute star in the making (by others accounts) and as I said on the other thread was the one player I felt ticked every box. We seem to be weighing up options for right wing, here's the summary of what I've found online:
I think it could be as good as: CB: Scalvini, out of nowhere and top bins. RW: Oscar Bobb. Like Scalvini, you heard it here first! GK: Trafford, this is done it's just about how close to £40m Burnley make us go (the buy back to City price). CF: Joao Pedro. CM: Jacob Ramsay, although I'd much prefer Carlos Baleba. Wilson, Dubravka, Willock, Targett sold.
All irrelevant really. The only things we should care about is, does he like spaghetti and moretti and does he hate sunderland?
Well now that the news is out about us being after Scalvani, Chelsea will come in and sign him on twice the wages.
That'd be some outlay for those 5 - pushing into the £200-250m range, we'd be lucky to get £20m for Willock and the rest we can probably get £10m for so would expect someone else would need to go to get that lot in.
