Coventry don't seem to do in-house commentary, but Sheff Utd do

Comments above about the sky bias, around 38 minutes Sunderland had the ball for 4 minutes or so, some nice little passes and moves. And the 2 commentators talked about Sheffield Utd and their season the entire time. Never even said the name of a Sunderland player until commenting on Ahmehidzic making a tackle on Rigg!!

I was watching a youtube video last night of a "watchalong" of the final (dont bother searching for it, its not very good).
The stats were on the screen and kept updating as the game progressed. I took this screenshot when the game was at 73 minutes, so before we equalised.
Sky commentary would have you believe sheff utd dominated the game, and were by far the better side.
    Really? I dont think so.

For fifteen minutes, after half time, Sunderland had the ball and were pushing five players into attack. When Mayenda scored the commentators said, ‘That goal came out of nowhere!!!’

    Shameful and lazy tbh …

… it seems once they’ve decided on ‘the story’ nothing shakes that belief.

Patterson had two easy games against Coventry but I keep hearing they battered us.

I watched something similar and the person said hope we suffer next season as we didnt deserve it,

and one person pointed it out.. and they said they are clueless stats mean nothing, SU are the bigger and better team so they should have won

I hope that narrative continues into the new season. Teams and pundits been underestimating us for too long...

You know I've watched this a few times (who hasn't ?) and there was a key moment in the build up to Watson's goal.
At 09:45 on this video, the ball breaks loose in the right back slot and as Hume winds up to a challenge, the Sheff Utd player pulls out, probably expecting to get smashed. Hume lays it off and we get up the pitch to Roberts and the rest is history.

You wonder how much that challenge on BBD was playing on their minds when going into a 50-50 with Hume.

Bad enough when other people make those claims …

… worse when some of our own swallow it and repeat it.

It’s ironic that they talked about how Coventry “battered” us, based solely on possession! Yet ignored the possession stats in this in favour of a chance from a mistake (Patti safe), a breakaway goal, a volley from a cleared corner (we had 4 corners before their first) and a chance created by a handball and poor defending! They created so little in the game. We created the best chance aside their goal in the first 45. The Mayenda header! And hardly anything was said about that!

As I have said before, Coventry (apparently) battered us because they had more possession yet Sheffield also (apparently) battered us despite us having more possession.
The main point is we are in the Premiership and they are not - now that is FACT!!

Football matches are won in one way, and in one way only. The team that scores more goals than the other team wins. The rest is just bullshit :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Much as I like re-watching our goals and the celebrations on the pitch and in the stands, I’m now watching them to see the Sheffield players reactions to Watson’s (and Ballard’s) goal. Hands on hips, falling to knees, head in hands, looking to the heavens in disbelief, shaking heads looking to the turf in despair. Utter undiluted dejection after being told they’d roll us. On the whole I don’t like seeing grown men suffer but I’m making an exception for the 22 who had their summer ruined by Ballard and Watson.

I have to say I thought it was pathetic when van Ewijk cried on the pitch after he'd given the ball away for Mayenda's goal.

Even worse was how other players hugged him as they left the pitch and the commentators sympathised.

It was the first leg ffs, what a performance <wah>
